im serving NS right now. i've been betting on soccer since i was in sec sch. it started with just 10 20 bucks kinda thing. till abt poly time, it was a few hundreds, sometimes thousands but seldom.

i've lost till i have not enough money to pay up, and end up borrowing, then returning in installments (1 to 3 thousand loan). now i owe abt 2k to friends, and gotta pay in installments for the next half yr or so..

i really wanna stop gambling already, i've told myself that, but i am not determined enough, and will end up betting small amounts again. and then end up losing few hundreds to 1+k..

i come from an above average family, but i don't wanna let my parents know abt this as it will sadden them. now, i am giving myself one last chance to quit, i really hope i can do it this time..

the only obstacle to this is, i owe 2k+ and gotta pay in installments over the nxt 6months or so. and it will be a shadow on my mind, thinking to myself, 'if i win, i can repay the loan'. cos i dont like the feeling of owing ppl money even though they nv press me for payment . but i'll try my best to be disciplined, not gamble, and slowly repay the loan.

to those gambling out there, esp on soccer. pls stop. u'll nv beat the bookies. how else do u think the bookies are making big bucks, some of them even millionaires.

exactly! i'm trying very hard to get out of this vicious cycle.. but the debt i owe 2k+ is getting to me. i keep getting tempted to gamble and try to win back this money to repay the debt. but i KNOW that if i lose, it will get me into deeper shit.

Get a new hobby or interest.

i know it sounds like an excuse, but i think, me being in NS also contributes to the fact that i find it hard to stop, cos it's damn no life and no direction at all, damn bored, etc. i ORD late nxt yr.

all that i can think of is that im going overseas for studies after i ORD, i really wish it could come sooner..

but now, don't stop also gotta stop already, in debts now..

get soccer out of your life...

dun think its sg pools. read 1st post properly. loan from friends to pay debts.
means illegal betting. because sg pools :- before match start lose the money u bet.

Report to the Police all those who lent money to you and charge you interest as this is illegal.....

To wean yourself from the gambling habit, try to :
1. Stay in camp as much as possible lor. I know of people to stay in camp on their book-out days.
2. Take up a hobby to keep your mind occupied.........

i think u are seeking the thrill of winning $. why not channel your energy into thinking of winning $ out of wise investment ? like buying shares, indexes, warrants etc.

1)no borrowing of money
2)when u lose dun whine treat it as u used it to play arcade
3)when u win don't think u are rich and start buying things and treating people lunch/dinner it will become as if u did not win anything as money flows out fast
