I feel that everyone is putting a false image infront of u...
Its like they will backstab u anytime.. Will say things that disappointing anytime.. Every small little things will lead to a quarrel.. Having a feeling of betrayal now and then..
Suddenly u find urself that u have no one to trust.. Living in a society where every man is fighting for himself..

We all grow up thinking the world is an oyster and everything is perfect. Turns out it's actually 'si hum'
Oh well, even sometimes oysters can turn out to
be spoiled too. And in our modern and materialistic society
everyone is for themselves only. It's call 'Survival of the
fittest'. You don't backstab people, people backstab you. After
some time you eventually will join in the game too just to survive.
So welcome to the real world.

Trust is a universal struggle. All of us wrestle to some extent with trusting others because of painful experiences with betrayal. When the source of that betrayal is someone close to us, it can be especially devastating.
Nowhere is this more true than when a person is betrayed by a family member, close family friend, close friend or some other trusted authority figure. Hence, you are not alone when you cannot help but feel suspicious to even a genuine good intention and deed.
However, we ought to treat our past as a lesson and regard that as a history. Histories do not repeat unless we create and commit the same mistake. So just be more careful with your dealings with people at the same time looking after your own interest and well being. I think the saying : "Look before you leap" will be good to remember as you go about your decision trusting people.

this type of situation reminds me of workplace (especially office)haiz

When I step into the working world, I got this feeling also... but the grown-up process has mould me into a better and stronger person... I have learnt to have high EQ, stay cool, be careful what I say/do, be humorous, be positive, be forgiven, don't gossip, don't complain.... etc etc etc...
Instead of saying putting a false image, why not put it the other way, they've to protect themselves from being hurt/betray/backstab...
Feeling backstab/betrayed... forgive but don't forget, take it as a lesson learnt...
No one to trust... make sure what you say to someone are of no secret one... which means they can tell to other people one... you've to learn to protect yourself...

Depends on situation, does it pay to be helpful in the first place, if it doesn't, what for still want to help?At my workplace, my colleagues (guys/men some more), they (store dept) always help me and I (sales dept) always help them...

People wears a mask to protect themselves, to please others, to avoid hurting others. etc. This is life but does not mean we can't create trustworthy relationship with people. There is always patterns and warning signs we can look out for. Keep your eyes open and trust your guts.
Even if we have been let down by others, don't forget they are human and it is in their nature to err.

humans are not perfect. even the closet of friends will hurt you with their words n actions sometimes.
