A very short promo appeared after today's episode of TBS/MBS' "Toward The Terra" announcing a new Gundam series. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (Double Oh) is set to air at 6pm on Oct 2007. The official site is up providing a streaming promo.

Known details are:
Setting - 2307 AD ("seireki", Japanese for "anno domini")
Characters - 4 Gundam Meisters, who pilot the mobile weapons.
Factions - Solestal Beings (not real sure on the English name right now), a private militia group whose purpose is to eradicate wars.
Tagline at the end of the commercial - "Rebirth begins through destruction"

Rumors about the series have been going around Japanese message boards for some time, especially after Sunrise registered several Gundam00 domains. The proclamation that the setting would neither be in the Universal Century of the original nor the Cosmic Era of Gundam SEED, as stated by Sunrise's Yasuo Miyakawa, seems to have been followed through with. Staff members are yet to be confirmed although the most persistent rumor is that the series will be directed by Fullmetal Alchemist's Seiji Mizushima.

There is always that thing to use, against law but at your own risk lol...
And should be quite fast if you can pay more, always work that way eg import the dvd and so on...

From Sotsu Agency's official website, the press release for Mobile Suit Gundam 00, the 12th Gundam TV series and the first to be broadcast in Hi-Def. The premise is given as follows:

"The setting is Earth 300 years from the present day, in 2307 AD. The series depicts the protagonist, Setsuna F. Seiei, who pilots a mobile suit (Gundam Excia) for a mysterious private militia (Celestial Being), going against a whole world where conflicts never cease and the struggle to eradicate war."

Bandai Namco's press release says the first Gundam 00 plamodel, the 1/144 Gundam Excia, comes in September. Outside of Gunpla, expect a slew of merchandising including figures, candy toys, vending machine stuff, apparel, video games, mobile content, and DVD & video.

Setsuna F (Fanron) Seiei:

A Gundam Meister for Celestial Being. He grew up in the war torn middle east and was discovered by Celestial Being at the age of 14 to have the special potential as a pilot. He doesn't speak much and comes off as a cool young man. He is now 16 years old.

Celestial Being:

The mysterious organization that strives to end all wars and change the world with only 4 Mobile Suits. Aside from the aim to put an end to all warfare, they have no ties to any government, is strictly non-profit and subscribes to no particular ideology.

MS-GUNDAM:

Super weapons created independantly by Celestial Being, they are a second-generation technology compared to anything the two superpowers in the world have to offer. They are machines made to take out entire armies individually.

Solar Generator:

A top secret technology being researched, this is the common name for the Energy source GN Drive. When mass is destroyed without the discharge of gun particles, a great amount of positron and photon are generated. Smaller units have also been designed, and the special advantage is the non-generation of excess heat. The GUNDAM units are powered with this technology.

GN Particles:

A sort of mutation neutrion discovered by chance, it is the origin of the research behind the GN Drive. When the GN Drive is in operation, these particles are automatically generated. When they're in the air they have the special property of shutting down all radar systems completely.

The director Mizushima also makes a few comments about the direction the show is taking. Apparently the decision to set the show in 2307 AD is to force a sense of realism into the series and a stronger connection to our real world. Since it follows the same timeline as ours, the worldview and settings will be more similar to the real world than that of a standard Gundam series, which is a new direction they're aiming for. There also appears to be two major superpower factions in the world: The Union (America leading Japan, Canada and Australia) and People's Reform Federation (that's the closest I can translate lŠv˜A, and it's comprised of China, Russia and India).

Edit: Also, from the summary of the story, it doesn't appear that there are any colonies or equavilants in the story. Basically after mankind discovered the new solar based power source, the two superpowers continued to fight on and on, until the organization Celestial Being decided to attempt to stop it all with Gundams....

The official site updated with an outline & staff section. Nobuto Sue's name is added alongside Kenji Teraoka and Hitoshi Fukuchi to the list of concept designers. Also worth noting is Kunio Okawara is credited third as a mechanic designer, behind Kanetake Ebikawa & Takayuki Yanase. In Sotsu Agency's press release, Okawara wasn't mentioned at all, potentially indicating a reduced role for him compared to his level of participation in other Gundam series. The official site will formally open on July 10.

The story outline:
"2307 AD.

As fossil fuels became exhausted, humanity found a new energy source to change their situation: A large-scale solar power system with three enormous orbiting elevators. However, only a few large countries and their allies reaped the benefits.

Three superpowers had ownership of the three orbiting elevators: The Union, based in the United States Of America, The People's Reform League, made up of China, Russia, and India, and Europe's AEU. The superpowers continue playing a large zero-sum game for their own dignity and respective prosperity. Even though it is the 24th century, humanity has yet to become one.

In this world where war has no end, a private militia appears advocating the eradication of war through force. Each possessing a mobile suit Gundam, they are Celestial Being. The armed intervention by the Gundams against all acts of war begins."

Gundam 00 MS, main characters, merchandising UPDATED AGAIN

Famitsu.com put up coverage of Club EX, where Bandai introduced the main characters and Gundams for Gundam 00 and had some Gunpla (display only for now) to show off.

DengekiOnline.com's coverage goes beyond to also show off merchandising info. The write-up says Gundam 00 will differ from Gundam SEED in that, according to Bandai President Kazunori Ueno, the 4 main characters will appeal not only to female fans gained with the previous Gundam, but to male fans who prefer harsh outlooks of the world.
