Biren has left MediaCorp!

Text by Kwok Kar PengEditorial team: Dion TangThis news has come as a shock to veteran actress Hong Huifang who returned from Beijing only today to hear of the departure from us. The two were co-stars in the 2003 drama Vive La Famille II. To Huifang, Biren’s decision to leave her first job of 19 years to become a home-maker isn’t a surprise as the latter gave birth to her second child only four months ago.“Biren places a lot of emphasis on her kids’ childhood and education, and so given her character, becoming a full-time mother is something that she would do,” Huifang said.Another reason for her departure is the terms offered in the new contract, where Biren would not receive medical benefits, annual leave and CPF contributions. With her leaving before the TV’s annual glitz event Star Awards, Biren may not be able to receive the All-Time Favourite award, given out to artistes who have received the Most Popular Artiste award 10 times.When asked, the Vice-President of MediaCorp TV’s Branding & Promotions Mr Paul Chan is unable to confirm whether the company will invite Biren back to receive the All-Time Favourite award as the committee for March’s (2009) Star Awards has not yet been set up. He said, “Her contributions are witnessed by all and we will miss her, but this is the path that she has chosen and for a mother of two to choose between career and family, I think family is more important.”

Following after xia shao guang, biren is the next good artiste who left, sad.
Will miss her.Mediacorpse really cannot make it. Have a friend work in mediacorp, said that mediacorp not very open in their management. There used to be a creative hongkee director but could not stand the way the management works left.
Now that they are getting so many new people joining them they can afford to "throw away" the experienced artistes. Most of those new artistes really cannot make it.
