Hmmm, no way i'm going to read thru this and not reply.
I'm the white trd sports M owner and i'm proud to drive this car,
along with every single one of my brothers and sisters on the road,
no matter which variant.

Anyone who says a celica is not a performance car blindly probably doesn't
own half a performance car. Either that or is a big major airhead.

I won't say it's a high performance car but it's definitely a performance car.
With it's relatively light weight and aerodynamic body, it will go high performance,
it just depends on how much $$$ u want to spend. There are celicas overseas
esp in japan and the USA winning competitions built on the vvtiL toyota engine.

Anyone still insisting on it being not even a performance car better have an NA car that will do 6 secs 0-100 in the 2L category, cause that's what i'm doing.

And if you can beat that i can find faster celicas on the local roads for you..

eh anyone with at least M3, rex, GTR, evo, lotus or anything better go and make him smell dust? ferrari or lambo will be too unfair for him to catch up.

he said he is comparing in the 2 litre NA category liaoz... so we are looking at something along the likes of dc5... by the way lotus elise and exige both uses the same 2 engines found in the celica ss1/ss2

anyways he's got grounds for flaring up...

firstly MOST performance car drivers have super huge egos... and that ego is sustained and fed continously by their rides.. much akin to like some forumites depending on their existence in sgforums and how many posts they chalk up to boost their egos...

so when someone slammed their rides.. it is like kicking them in the balls.. nuff' said.. they retaliate in the form of the above paragraph...

secondly i feel that they are too many numbwitts who come out and juz say celica is a poseur car...

true the celica ss1 using the 1ZZ-FE found in the 1.8 altis and with rear drum brakes is indeed a poseur car...

but the ss2 uses the 2ZZ-GE with vvtL-i technology and using all wheel discs is NOT a poseur car..

the engine is similar to the k20A1 found in fd2r dc5r and accord euro r

so obviously people do not know their stuff... pple woo and whoa at civic type rs but do they know that this 2 engines use in those 2 cars are similar??

well there is too much traffic light in singapore lah... race for wat Fxxx.. alway can see each other in the next traffic light mah ...Petrol so exp.. 0 to 100 km.. your money alway goes from ++++ to ---- in 6 sec..

Actually if you read thru the whole thread at mycarforum, you will notice it's not really the celicasg people's fault.. if people keep on saying your car is a poser car, of course u will feel unhappy also, and if you dont retaliate then its equivalent to saying that you admit your car is also a poser car..

 

But in the first place, no one ever said celica was a high performance car, is the TS lack of knowledge end up saying things that really piss the celicasg people off..

MCF had just became another entertaining forum to waste my day away.

just look at the amount of rants and such nots threads vs the car discussion threads.

even a car discussion thread can become a government bashing thread with pple challenging each other

so what if it is fast? in singapore every 50m 1 traffic light, unless u wan to fast fast go underworld la.

Might as well the owner go challenge the SMRT Train would be even better

For a benchmark,try racing with a stock M3(E46,E92 die alr cfm ) to see if can match German tech

 

Anyway,the single post that TS has quoted is giving the wrong impression for the whole thread's meaning.

It was supposed to be about a Celica which is supposely "good" according to that thread's TS had rear drums,which is inferior.

 

In the end,dont need to flare up over drum brakes...drum-to-disc brakes conversion can be had for a few Ks(though it void the warranty).

Well,for that case it can be a heavily modded M3.

The thing here is that the owner(Celica or M3) is seeing more than what his car is meant to compete with,probly reaching into higher reign

And then finally a race will show the true capabilities

i believe this is the statement.... and the owner nv meant to compete outside of his category... if u would only read what he wrote carefully...

Ok they're from different catagory my bad.The M3 has the century sprint around that timing so that would be a good challenge.Other than that its different alr

End of the day, your M3, BMW M3 or Mazda 3 at the speed camera also both have to guai guai slow down. You have a bmw m3 also no use, all that speed and power is only for racing to the next petrol station and burning a hole in your wallet.
