      just now i let my dad drove my new car, and he forgot to pull up the handbrake after shifting the gear to 'P'. will this cause any damage to the transmission system? my car is auto

      Dun worry No damage. I tried shifting to reverse gear while driving and nothing happened.

      it will not damage. maybe if you park on a slope, you'll find your car at another position later on.

      P oredi in parking position, even on slope oso no probelm. since day one, i never use my handbrake before.....

      Park (P) – This selection mechanically locks the transmission, restricting the car from moving in any direction. A parking pawl prevents the transmission, and therefore the vehicle, from moving (although the vehicle's non-drive wheels may still spin freely). For this reason, it is recommended to use the hand brake (or parking brake) because this actually locks the (in most cases, rear) wheels and prevents them from moving. This also increases the life of the transmission and the park pin mechanism, because when parking on an incline with the transmission in park without the parking brake engaged will cause undue stress on the parking pin. An efficiently-adjusted hand brake should also prevent the car from moving if a worn selector accidentally drops into Reverse gear during early morning fast-idle engine warmups.

      i know older vehicles will still move, just in case TS's vehicle is considered old.

      will pulling the handbrake first then putting the gear selector to P help reduce unnecessary stresses on the parking pin when on an incline? or it doesn't matter either way?

      Auto car @ P = Park brake engaged.  On flat ground or even slight slopes it will be fine. No damage is done to any part of the car. Dun worry about it.
