$162k with coe, now thats no joke.

Is damn worth it!!! With 4motion AWD system / 6 speed DSG if I'm not wrong. At least, its much cheaper than the equivalent Audi A4 3.2 quattro 6 speed tiptronic @ 188k!!!!

veh few pple will buy the 3.5litre version...
True, but for the case of the VW Golf, there's the 1.4 but most Golfs on the roads are the 2.0 GTIs

That's because every magazine that reviewed it gave it high marks. Saying it's the benchmark for hot hatches. That's probably one of the reasons why nearly everyone is going for the 2.0 GTi model when they want to buy a Golf.

According to wikipedia and the VW UK site, there is a 3.6 V6 300ps spec slated for the Passat CC as well.
In fact the VW UK site even allows you to configure the CC of your choice, from engine spec to paint colour to interior and exterior options.

In your opinion, do you think this R36 is worth it? When compared against the A4 3.2 Quattro at 188k, the R36 screams VALUEEE FORRR MONEYYY!!!

yes its value for money...but then again... value for money is not the only thing pple is looking for at this part of the segment...
firstly.. aside from the fact tt they are under VAG.. do u agree that the audi badge is more pretigious than vw badge...
so a buyer will naturally be more inclined towards the audi...
with this i have another anology... LOL
gs300, e200, 523i are meant to compete in the same segment....
so the gs300 is the most value for money going by ur rationale
but u still hear pple say... it juz a lexus(toyota)....

Of course if have the money to whack, will aim the beemer and the audi because of the prestige, no doubt.
But just considering from the point of view that let's say someone wants to upgrade to a conti from his previos accord/camry/cefiro/legacy large sized sedan, then I think VW is a very feasible choice..
And yup agree with your analogy. It's also being played out in the 3 series / 7 series segments as well.

Nope, the Nissan GT-R must be the performance bargain of the year!

$255,000 for something that eats most Porsches, Ferraris and Lamborghinis for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That's really maximum bang for minimum bucks.

Yea, unfortunately that $255K is still paying for a Datsun.Personally, i luv the GTR's engine noise, not so much the looks though. With that money i'd hate to say this - i'd go for the snob appeal. Bring on the Boxster 2.7 M for me.

Agreed. It's a wonder how they have such good technology in the car and price it so low? Top Gear says that every engine is specially made for a particular transmission. And, an engine from a GTR wont work as effectively if mated with another GTR's transmission. And each engine is hand built, ironically a fottage after this sentence is said shows a machine assembling the engine in a air sealed chamber o.0
The tyres are filled with Nitrogen and best of all, its that superb dual clutch gearbox. Acorrding to Top Gear again, each engine produces a different power output. So if you are lucky, you'll get a more powerful GTR than the rest of the GTR drivers.
It all sounds so expensive, so I don't know if what Jeremy said can be trusted. As you know, Top Gear usually has more crap than the truth. But, if what Jeremy said is the truth, I wonder how they can acheive it with such a low asking price?
