    • Sony laptops like this de....usually very expensive when you can get the same specs for say Acer or HP. I think your specs kind can get 1.3k COMPAQ????

    • its okay i think...given the 1.93kg which is light by standards... the troubling part is the duo graphics card system... i dont have a good impression of it...

and since its sony, you pay about $200-$600 for the brand.

That's the price to pay for 2 gpu and a hybird hdd.

i doubt you can find both of these 2 things in an $1.3k compaq.

    • my dear lord, open your eyes. its a core 2 duo mobile packaged under the concept name of centrino, meaning its faster than you think.

and the hybrid drive is only 1 year old into its use, so dont baulk at the price.

moreover, since you got yourself a sony, there always the $200+ paid for the brand name itself.

      Hybrid HDD = Exp ?

Though it have a good graphic card , it's centrino and also a free Microsoft Retail Home and student office (:

      Here is the specs ..

      http://www.sony.com.sg/microsite/vaio/products/vaio_sz/vgn_sz56gnb/index.html

Actually, the cost free gifts are kinda included in the price stated. ( from a experienced sales men).

Hybird hdd is a technology that is not normally seen. It is lesser produced. thus, the cost per unit of hdd would be higher with increased capacity.

I do not think that the battery would last 6hours.

my bet would be about 4 hours for a full charge, due to the vista os and your usage.

Centrino is just a mobile platform. nth much about it.

like what abao have said, you are paying for the brand and the new technology.

    • So it's worth it hor ???

Currently : Upgrading my system to Ultimate (:

And also .. what to do with my Office Home and Student ?

Should I use a pirated Enterprise or a genuine one ?

      Some Qs :

If I were to do a full system wipeout and before that , my office (genuine) is installed on that hard disk .. and if I were to reinstall office again , will I use up one of my 3 "chances" ? (can activate up to 3 comps)

And for sony , I have the Recovery DVDs (burn myself) If I were to reinstall using that dvds , will my other sony programs be wipe out too ?

And lastly , can anyone spare me an Ultimate Sony OEM Product key ? (Optional , can find my own though)

Will sony comp spoil easily?? (: (:

    • not worth upgrading to pirated ultimate -_-

vista business is very functional with less frills of vista home...

the recovery discs should be equivalant to a disc image of your computer when you burnts them out, so any installed programs should be restored when you use the recovery discs (in theory, at least, it is for my old Acer)

as for the MS office "chances", i have no idea.

Stick to the oem vista business.

no, your sony programmes will not be wiped out. It's a disc image of your opeating system. further more, if you created a recovery disc using sony's recovery module, then by default, all sony programmes will be included.

if not, you can go to sony's website to download sony softwares and drivers.

I m sorry to tell you, OEM product keys function differently from normal product keys. They will not work if you get a product key and suka suka key them in. (if not microsoft will lose tons of $, these oem product keys can be found almost everywhere! Courts, challenger ...)

From experince, i really agree that it Spoil only next year (acronym sony). my former sony now has some parts of the screen with grey-brownish patches, signs of a dead pixle.

From what i understand, when you install microsoft office, they will register the product with your computer's product key. Thus if the product key of your os is the same, i dont think you will use another "chance" --correct me if i m wrong

      Lol?

      1 year 2 months.

I hopped to Hp last June.

My sony had touch pad probs and had to be repaired after 8 months or so.

More sales = more commission = more sweet words = white lies = not their problem.

      What do you think?

well. for those who have alr used windows for quite a long time, it would take quite some time to adjust to a mac. further more, the price somehow veers me off from getting a mac.

    • It's not hard to adjust to using a Mac. Between Windows, Mac and Linux... I've got to say Mac is top on my hate list...

Mac is nice, but being as restrictive as MS won't make me like it...
