      Hi all ,

Recently upgraded from 3mbps to 8mbps . Seemed promising but it was crap to me .

Download speed was from 300kbps on 3mbps plan , nosedive to abt 100kbps on a 8mbps plan .

Initially i see the potential of getting to 800kb when the activation is on going but the speedy finally stablise @ 100kb only .

      Questions ,

Is singtel capping our downloads ? If not , y do i have such a significant drop in download speed despite upgrading the plan ?

I m using uTorrent client if that matters , but no problem all the way till i activate 8mbps .

Could any1 enlighten me ? Does other singnet user have this problem after upgrade ?

    • The download speed you get on torrents very much depend on the number of users seeding (providing) the files you are downloading. Think of these seeders as water taps somewhere far far away from you and Singnet as a water pipe bringing water from the taps to your house. If the water taps can only output small amounts of water, having a bigger pipe wouldn't bring you more water no matter what.

Try this torrent, seeded by 1200+ users as of now, which should be able to use up your entire downstream of 8mbps, assuming that there is no issue with the configuration you have for uTorrent and you did not cap your download.

Is it problem wid singnet or wid the modem?Last time singnet is fantastic, my home load finish, next door using cable still loading page...

BUT now singnet zzzzz.....slow/keep dc 1 day dunno how many time.....sigh....not worth the $ spent.

Cal them up, they know its slow so they sent ppl down, but nothing change, wrote to sph, they anyhow edit...

Post to stomp?or go case?(know sure lose but dun mind trying)

Have good computer at home  = alone play game good.

Play over internet wid singnet now = might as well use rubbish computer, wasting money.

Cannot enjoy what WAS previously being delivered by singnet.

    • to check your download speed, go to

      http://www.singnet.com.sg/technical/helptools/

      click the blue FTP button

for 8mbps plan, a result of 6500-7500kbps is normal

to get an accurate result, please conduct the test with only 1 pc connected to the modem/router and with no other concurrent download/upload process

    • It's up to you if you want to have faster Internet speed at the expense of line stability icon_lol.gif
