BARCELONA claim they have agreed a £22.5million deal with Arsenal for Emmanuel Adebayor.
Nou Camp officials have been in talks with the striker’s representatives about a move. And the Togo ace said on Friday he expected his future to be sorted out ‘in the next few days’.
Gunners chief Arsene Wenger had warned his top scorer was not for sale. But Barca are adamant an agreement is in place with both club and player.
Newcastle’s Obafemi Martins or Russia’s Andrei Arshavin could replace him. Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy has stunned Roma and Juventus by signing a new four-year contract.

Barcelona step up bid for Hleb and Adebayor with second round of talks

Barcelona have held a second round of talks with Arsenal as they close in on signing Emmanuel Adebayor and Alexander Hleb.
Barca vice-president Marc Ingla spent yesterday in London holding talks with Arsenal, who have so far stood firm in their desire not to sell and are quietly confident that striker Adebayor can still be convinced to sign a new deal.
However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is particularly keen to have big name signings in place before the club election on July 6.
Reports in Spain yesterday claimed a £21m fee has been agreed for Adebayor while midfielder Hleb would cost £12m.

its a shame that Arsenal can't keep their best players, Wenger's hands are tied and seeing all these players leave might also have an impact of those still around, cause if they're to see their chances of landing some kinda glory fading then its going to come to a time when they also decide to leave

The problem with Arsenal is they keep getting younger and younger by the years... Its not a bad thing but if you are a club seriously wanting to win a major title, then i won't say its a good thing at all...
Imagine willingly selling your best players away after they seemingly start to show signs of greatness... like someone here said, it will effect the rest of the squad even if they deny it.
Losing Flamini, Hleb and if ade can't be good... These players have more or less come of age after spending years to fulfil their potential and when they finally do, they are sold away to be replace by even younger players... Its like a routine happening over and over at Arsenal...

MILAN AND BARCA BATTLE FOR ADEBAYOR

AC Milan scout Ernesto Bronzetti believes the Rossoneri have a "50% chance" of signing Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor, but claims the London club intend to sell to Barcelona.
Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said on Thursday that Adebayor was now his club's sole transfer target this summer, and the the Italian club would be putting all their efforts into signing the player. However, reports in Spain have suggested that Barcelona have reached a deal to sign Adebayor for 27million euros after repeatedly snubbing the approaches from Milan.
Bronzetti - a renowned FIFA agent and the man behind most of the big transfers between La Liga and Serie A - confirmed these reports, saying that Barca president Joan Laporta hopes to sign the 24-year-old in a bid to strengthen his position ahead of the club's presidential election on July 6.
"Let's say we have a 50% chance, a lot will depend on the wishes of the player in the end," he told Italian TV station Radio Radio TV.
"Arsenal want to sell him to Barcelona, for their own motives. Barcelona tell me they already have an agreement with the player. "I only know that the Barcelona president, Laporta, after having been doubted, now wants to shut everyone up by buying a big-name forward."
However, Bronzetti believes Milan still have an advantage over their Spanish rivals, as Barcelona need to sell before they can finalise any deal with Arsenal. The Catalan club have already spent big this summer, and need to sell unwanted players such as Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o to raise funds.
Both players have been told they can leave the club, and both have been linked with Milan. But Bronzetti believes publicly announcing the pair can leave will only drive their price down, and urged Milan not to buy either of the two so as not to supply Barca with the funds.
He continued: "I do know they won't have the economic means to buy him until they sell Eto'o or Ronaldinho, so I'd advise Milan not to buy either of them or they'll finance the operation of taking Adebayor to Barcelona. "(Saying the players weren't needed) was a massive strategic error. Now anyone who wants to buy those players is maybe going to wait until August 29.
"They've spent 57million euros already and their finances aren't infinite, so now if wait a bit the price for Ronaldinho and Eto'o will go down."
