Unless u come from a rich family, it would be OKAY to throw a wedding dinner. With the other added costs such as honeymoon, photo shoot, rental of gowns and dresses , purchasing of jewellery and gifts.

Otherwise, hold a formal "Renewal of marriage vows ceremony" a couple of years down the road and have a wedding dinner to celebrate the love and harmony shared between the couple. Trust your instincts, it would be wise to save as much money since having a roof over both your heads is the most essential thing after exchanging vows.

Even though it's arguable we get back our investments from the wedding dinner, take note that it's not right to hold a wedding dinner to profiteer from other people, instead we should throw it with *sincerity* , so unless guests insists on giving you red packets, please accept it.

Furthermore, in the unfortunate circumstance, guests would spill food or drinks onto the carpet, and the restaurant or hotel would have to bill you the damages caused...which may run up to thousands if the stains cannot be removed. Sadly speaking, although it's customary to present a red packet to both bride and groom on their on the biggest dinner of their lives, some will contain sums barely enough to cover a fraction of the cost to organize the dinner.

For me, a simple church ceremony , wedding photo shoot and a exotic honeymoon would be good enough =). estimated, around 15k. ( enough to keep husband and wifey happy and spare us the misery of spreading our financial resources too early into the marriage )
