across.
Few rocket arent gonna cripple singapore remember singapore economic is largely manage by TEMASK and who owns temask?
The transportation arent gonna cease , the port is not gonna stop functioning, the airport will most probably be still open to commercial airliner and things will be in its "norm". Besides till then our foreign reserve could be some 10 digits lol

Singapore plans multiple rocket launcher, IFV acquisitions
Robert Karniol JDW Asia-Pacific Bureau Chief
Bangkok
Key Points
Singapore is seeking to acquire its first multiple rocket system and first wheeled IFV
The Singapore Army is enhancing its firepower and mobility capabilities with the planned acquisition of its first multiple rocket launcher (MRL) and its first wheeled infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).
The MRL requirement is for 18 systems, with the request for proposals currently in progress. First deliveries are expected in about 18 months.
Contenders for the contract remain unclear, but sources told Jane's that talks on the programme are under way with the US. This suggests that potential candidates include the 227 mm Multiple Launch Rocket System and the High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System, both from Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
The IFV programme is aimed to equip three battalions, with initial deliveries expected around the end of 2008. The locally developed Singapore Technologies (ST) Kinetics 8 x 8 Terrex AV81 IFV is among several platforms under consideration; other options remain unknown.
The army most recently upgraded its artillery with the introduction of ST Kinetics' Pegasus 155 mm/39 calibre Singapore Lightweight Howitzer, unveiled in late 2005. This supplemented the ST Kinetics Primus 155 mm/39 calibre self-propelled artillery system that was revealed two years earlier.
The wheeled IFV would complement two tracked platforms in current service: the ST Kinetics Bionix IFV, operationally deployed since 1999; and the older Giat Industries AMX-10P infantry combat vehicle.
The Singapore Army will further bolster its capabilities with deliveries, due to start in mid-2008, of 66 ex-German Armed Forces Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks, together with an additional 30 platforms earmarked as spares. These are intended to replace AMX-13 light tanks.
The planned acquisitions are linked to a broader force modernisation programme currently in progress and dubbed the third-generation Singapore Armed Forces.

What about Foreign Territory/ Land procurement? i.e. US acquired Alaska from Soviet Union. I thought lands from either Indonesia or Philippine would be good afterall what singapore has in abundant is $$$$
.
Singapore cant reclaim forever.Besides our neighbour arent gonna be a prepetually poor. They will eventually arrive @ a point of a developed nation.

Singapore has suffered decades of threats and humiliations from our neighbouring countries.Recently there has been a three pronged "attack"on us by malaysia , thailand and indonesia.Force us to expedite the extradition treaty by banning export of sand, Thailand Junta insulted our integrity....
Cant we do anything about it @ least a long term solution.
As a true blue singaporean, it makes me feel so frustrated.

Destroyer feasible? IMO, its infeasible
Southeast Asia geopolitical atmosphere will not tolerate singapore's navy possession of DDG @ least for this decade.its detrimental to the balance of force of the entire S.E.A and raise inevitable criticisms. As for now, i dont see the possiblility of any significant naval procurement xcept for an upgrade in the anti-ship missile system. The current system is phrasing out, the next generation anti-ship missile emphasizes on land and sea engagement.
(Note: recent news reported that indonesia is turning to russia on the possiblility procurement of sovremenny Class. IMO, Singapore's will not follow suit.)
IMO, US and china shouldnt be included in this topic. As huge maritime nations, the existence of large suface combatant fleet in their naval arsenal is only obvious

hi would suggest those have doubts on the classification of naval surface combatant.i.e. frigate, destroyer and cruiser. do some personal research, it wont take much of your time.it has got to do with the tonnage.
Tank1981 you should do your research on it as well. Mini destroyer its ridiculous if that the case even a corvette can be regarded a mini frigate or light frigate. Why are you so certain that herakle multi-radar used on formidable class frigate is designed and programmed for aster 30.
