My regedit was also disabled. After scanning using Spybot Search and Destroy, I managed to fix the problem. Then I deleted some registry entries which are related to some of the installation I mentioned above.

So, my problem is how do I solve the above issue?

Do you have a screenshot of the registry entries in question?

    • I'm not sure how I could advice you, but for me, I do not like being tied down to a contract, thus did not renew the contract after mine ended a few months ago, though I'm still with Singnet right now.

Regarding the 2Wire Wireless Gateway from Singnet, it's pretty good in my opinion (my sis is using it), but the additional $4 x 24 you pay could get you one from Netgear or D-Link out there as well. It's pretty much a matter of preference here, since to me, 2Wire's products are on par with those of popular brands such as Netgear and D-Link in terms of performance and stability.

    • What I would recommend is for you to prevent further occurences of such problems. For example, if your class is using the tagboard as a point of communication, it can be replaced by a simple, password-protected forum. Sensitive information shared via the forum such as contact numbers would then be hidden from non-authorized users (eg. anyone who is not your classmate) and not be abused by weirdos on the Internet. Access will also be limited to those who are permitted to use the forums. Doesn't this solve both problems you have listed in your post?

    • Is your Hotmail account even qualified for POP3 access?

      Accounts Qualifying:
MSN Legacy Pop3(msn.com) - Dialup or Bring Your Own ISP(as of 1997)
      Windows Live HotMail Plus(msn.com, hotmail.com, live.com) - effective Sept 21, 2007

If you really wish to access your inbox via POP3 without forking a single cent, get a Gmail account which allows POP3 access. The main reason why Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail disables POP3 access for free users is to force them to view their mails via their advertisement-filled web e-mail client in order to earn back the cost involved. Maybe Google has too much money to spare, I guess.

And this applies to most browsers as well... Firefox is the first thing that comes to mind...

Well, at least they have taken the first step with the production of IE8, after realizing that Firefox and other alternatives have chewed off a large portion of their market share. But I guess it's all too late by now; even Google has already stood up with its revolutionary Chrome. You can't win the today's browser competition simply by throwing in a porn mode, implement standards that should have been done years ago, increment the version number and call it a day.

and i like the porn mode, it deletes ur browsing history, but i sthtimes screw up a little

i dun think i will use it for banking transactions....just in case

Using compatibility view on IE8 is as good (or should I say, bad) as running IE7 itself.

When my friend need to run an errand and he's not bringing her along because he's going to the workshop which is dusty, hot and boring. she yelled at him and sent him a reply on his phone 'F*CK YOU!'

When I fetched a girl to meet our friends on a major outing since she stays near to me and the only logical choice is for me to fetch her instead of the others. I went to sit at the other table with my friend and my female friend also came along out of courtesy. My friend's gf saw it and forbids her bf to associate with me anymore. Because she thinks I am unfaithful to my gf.

She wants to stick around him wherever he goes and throws her temper whenever she wants regardless of the environment and timing.

Because of her, I have almost lost contact with my friend. But he secretly contacts me via phone sometimes to chat with me.

Such guys and girls exist. What can we do when both are willing parties.

      And he still loves her?

    • Hmm...try plugging it into another computer if it's available, and head to Disk Management to see if it's there.

And I found a solution on CNET regarding a similar issue (generic device message):
      "That is typical of...

A port that is on the front or USB 1.1.

      ...

Try the rear USB port as well as the LEGACY USB setting in the BIOS (try both!)"

    • So you don't see a long black bar labelled "Unallocated" like this?

      Hmm...try the suggestion below:

"I recently installed an external hard drive and some similiar problems. Turn your computer off, then unplug the USB cable and then the power to the drive. Restart you computer, plug the power into the hard drive, wait 10 seconds and then plug the USB into the computer. This clears the hard drive buffer. See if the drive shows up in disk management. Before formating, turn off your antivirus. I had no problems once I did that."

Just another thing i like to check is... You see the picture, you will notice there is no master or slave to choose from but there is this Jumper Block thing...

Originally the 3rd and 4th pin had a piece on them like you see on the little upper demo picture but i took it off cos it says "Limit to 1.5 Gb/s Operation"

      No harm right?

      Thanks again...

      You're welcome.

Regarding the jumper, you can just leave it on as it won't make a difference when connected via USB; the maximum bandwidth of a USB connection is 480 Mbps. There shouldn't be any problem leaving it off, but in any case you encounter stability issues, you can always plug it back in.

anyways, imo, a thicker is better than a smaller one.

It is an analogy of a Laptop vs Computer.

More space in the cpu would mean a more airy cpu = lesser heat rather than a laptop. all cramped tgt.

Refer to the link in my previous post. The thinner will perform slightly better as it is using only one platter, as opposed to two.

    • It's probably because it's not formatted for use yet. Assuming you're on Windows XP,

Start > Control Panel ( > Performance and Maintenance) > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Expand "Storage" tree on the sidebar > Disk Management

You should see your disk with its volume labelled "Unallocated". Right-click it and select "Format..." and simply set the format options as desired.
