A nation cannot grow strong without a sense of belonging and loyalty....
Why are our people only care abt their own pocket, don't they realise WU GUO means WU JIA?
We cannot expect everyone be like YUE FEI or MULAN but at least care about your family, neighbours and friends...don't chase them away when they are down cause one day you may be down then who can help you?

a country needs cultural history. knowing your ancestors lived and died by the sides of those of the people you still live with goes a longer way in nation building than singing the anthem and taking the pledge a million times.

While I believe in a pluralistic society, multicultural ones tend to watered down various cultures making us all the same but weak in our traditions and roots

Look at Japan, taiwan, south korea and even HK...all have strong cultures at least in rural areas..what we have here? Chingay festival? hoorays for youth olymoics then what?
Fads and trends come and go, cultural breadth and depth is what glued the society together

SG during British colonial days have lion and dragon dancings,firecrackers strong cultural traditions with guilds and clans..we are stronger and more confident though less educated in the western sense....

It is all starting from family and home. My family back in Indonesia has many problems too but all helping one another and the relative helping each other too. I can do anything for my mom and siblings if they ever need me. Neighbours for 20 years like big family. Here is so different.
I won't say i'm loyal to my country Indonesia but I never think of giving up my citizenship because of my family. I'm a foreigner, your so called FT here but i don't feel any priviledge given to me. i do appreciate the opportunity given by your government to work here.

Friend.... Unlike other S'poreans here, I don't have any ill feeling about FTs.....
As long as you stick to our Laws and try to fit into our socity..... then all is well.
Since S'poreans themselves have loong said that they won't protect S'pore anyway.... and is ever dreaming of getting out.... They are behaving just like any FT.... I might as well welcome you then a brunch of whinning S'poreans.

don't talk about and compare things now and in the past. like the saying goes, policemen in the olden days used to wear shorts. there are so many changes, so many factors to consider and even a need to plan properly.
if one can be contented, i don't see the reason for having not enough money. -

Many times, it's the culture, society and infrastructure of the country which would build the people to the way they become.....
