I think not us chasing them away one ley.....?
don't talk about and compare things now and in the past. like the saying goes, policemen in the olden days used to wear shorts. there are so many changes, so many factors to consider and even a need to plan properly.
if one can be contented, i don't see the reason for having not enough money.
If that is the case.... then S'porean would have migrated with or without 'Enough' money.....
And yes.... I try hard to be contented, by only buying what I really need and not getting a CAR, which in some ways.... is so un-Sporean like.
I have a 4Room hdb at Woodlands and little cash in my Bank account...... But I'm also not in debt to any Credit Cards (but I have 2). Therefore I can't see why ppl richer then me is complainting about the cost of living If S'poreans knows how to be content and NOT try to keep up with the Jones..... then they would have felt much less Stress.....

That, is sadly the TRUTH....

It simply does not make sense to pledge allegiance to a country that will not protect you.
How does it feel to be loyal to the country when the leaders are corrupted themselves to begin with. Loyalty is pledged to family, friends & colleagues. And not to corrupted leaders. Pledging loyalty to countries is very subjective. You cannot blame others for being self centered in this aspect.
(1) In an old middle east history, a young man named Jeremiah told his king to surrender to his enemies so as to preserve the lives of his fellow-men rather than to wage a losing war against the much stronger enemy who will wipe out and destroy the people in the country.
(2) After an unpleasant incident involving a junior employee, the executive in the company refuses to alter a statement written by the junior employee even though it will tarnish the company’s reputation. This is done as to prevent the junior employee from becoming a sacrificial scapegoat. And by doing so, the executive risks losing his job.
In the above 2 instances, we see true loyalty.
Loyalty is pledged in order to improve the people’s lives & to people who are true to you. And not to glorify the leaders who lead the organization. If a foreign country welcomes you and take you in as one of them and ensures a fair treatment to you, then that country will be the one whom you should pledge allegiance to. If a friend from an enemy country in order to protect you sacrifices his dignity, assets and possibly his life, don’t you think he is worth much more than a country who stresses that you must be loyal to it all the time expecting you to give and seldom return you?

It is all starting from family and home. My family back in Indonesia has many problems too but all helping one another and the relative helping each other too. I can do anything for my mom and siblings if they ever need me. Neighbours for 20 years like big family. Here is so different.
I won't say i'm loyal to my country Indonesia but I never think of giving up my citizenship because of my family. I'm a foreigner, your so called FT here but i don't feel any priviledge given to me. i do appreciate the opportunity given by your government to work here.

Friend,
In this forum, there are those who love Singapore, those who support and those who dislike the PAP, but there are a whole bunch of people who can't tell the difference between Singapore and PAP. They take every opportunity to run down Singapore thinking they are the true Singaporeans who know what is good for its people, and of couse there are some who run down other countries, like australia, hoping to give a balanced view.
Among this same bunch of people, many talk about migrating with no apparent considerations for their parents, their classmates, neighbors of 20 years, to them family means just their wives and children. These are the people who fit the category of cold people your sista met. Their presence only shows that there are all kinds of people in Singapore and they are free to speak what they like.
You will also find that those against the FT policy would ridicule the PRC Chinese construction workers but kao tao to the angmoh expatriates. It makes you wonder who are the foreigners doing the jobs that no Singaporeans want to do and who are the FT who take away the jobs from Singaporeans.
Your company employs you cause you have something they want, so you deserve the job; Singapore allows you freedom in working here with your family staying and studying here, I am glad you appreciate it even if you don't consider it a priviledge.
enjoy your stay.

I don't know if you were and continue to be a loner but i do have good friends from secondary/poly/uni that I'll miss and would certainly be a factor in any decision to migrate.

the question is, do your classmates and neighbours care about each other? They may not have gathering as often as they used to, and over the years, they may be meeting in separate smaller groups now. but do they even remember you? do you think they give a f about you?
as for me, I thought you are going to say that I would die working in Singapore, or have my job taken away by FT, but to think that I am still a kid in school, , try again, give you a clue, I am between 20 and 60. Hahaha....
But to tell the truth, sometimes I do wish I were back in school, can do everything without worrying about $$$.

If its pay that attracts people here,
we should start praying now that we dont see
the day when we cannot afford to pay that talents run away.
in times of hardship
which talent would continue to hold the fort , so to speak?
i think many many,
if u don't believe of the me.
I believe at the same time we're attracting the other Talents ? out of the pool of talents only a few can only be considered talents.
There is really no definition to define who is the talent. However it is the product or service from the person that defines what he/she does that matters.
Do we need a home or flag to be loyal to? Or are we just as mercenary? Or is it that some Talents in Singapore are so smart that they do not value Kinship.
like i said there are many factors to consider, not just financially. to each their own. some are well off to pay and pay and chose to stay. some are well off but unhappy at paying unnecessary things and choose to leave. others with other scenarios.
good that you are contented and living happily here. but everyone has different goals and needs in life and so, there are people whose goals and needs will not be in line with yours and you can't blame them for that.
just came Back from work..... 1st off -
Never have I 'Blame' anyone for wanting to leave..... I highly encourage anyone who wishes to Migrate for a better life to do so..... but just don't talk & talk only..... can get boring one you know...
Let me give you a real life example -
A colleague of mine have been issuing a similar thread since the 1st day I start work at my company..... always the Company is F*ck Up..... He could always get a better job outside.... He will not bow down to the boss.... etc. At 1st, it is quite intresting...... till this goes on for months & months till it became years & years...... at last count, almost 10yrs already. Same as ppl here who said they are going, then said no money or time isn't right.... or something.
So you can see why I'm piss off with ppl who keep saying they're going and yet give excuse after excuse.... years after years..... If you are moving off next week.... feel free to share it with us. If you have done Sh*t yet.... then keep your peace till you are moving.

singapore is not a bad place to setup your own business, but of course, running it into profit is another issue. u cannot imagine just how much red tapes Oz' ATO has for businesses especially those IT contractors and consultants. plus the taxation and rules are rather stifling and oppressive.
it is my long term plan to setup an office in SG in the near future to take advantage of the low business tax in SG but i definitely dont want my son to serve his NS.
hahaha (not a sarcasm because i have encountered such people before) however i'm not piss because afterall its their decision, if they wanna lament, not my problem....
but i think you have to understand, migrating is a much much bigger decision than swapping jobs. :)
Again.... I do understand.
But look at it this way..... every time the is a rise of COE, ERP, Minister Pay..... etc, you will confirm see a few post by 'one time' SGforums member - 'One Time' being that they shoot 1 post and never comes back again - who will said they wants to Migrate.
Just like that.... No need to plan if they can find a Job there or not.... No need see if they're family could get used to the new country.... No need to even consider if THAT COUNTRY EVEN WANTS THEM..... all they have to said is 'I want to Migrate'.... like sooo easy.
These are the ppl who give those seeking a better life for their families a bad name....

She isn't the 1st and won't be the last..... I've seen worst stuff written by many more forumrunner.
So quit trying to stay on the 'Moral Highground'.... don't forget WHO called WHO a - "spoilt brat" - in another thread.... then give some lame excuse about - "test moderators of the forums"......
is that an order, coxswain?

They are 101% true S'poreans...... always waiting for others to do the dirty jobs while they stay clean and safe..... Because hiding behind a Nick is so much easier.....
