I try to follow Lee Kuan Yew's line of thought can also bring severe brain damage.
"Three women were brought to the Singapore General Hospital, each in the same condition and needing a blood transfusion. The first, a Southeast Asian was given the transfusion but died a few hours later. The second, a South Asian was also given a transfusion but died a few days later. The third, an East Asian, was given a transfusion and survived. That is the X factor in development." - 27 December 1967
"The Bell curve is a fact of life. The blacks on average score 85 per cent on IQ and it is accurate, nothing to do with culture. The whites score on average 100. Asians score more ... the Bell curve authors put it at least 10 points higher. These are realities that, if you do not accept, will lead to frustration because you will be spending money on wrong assumptions and the results cannot follow." - Lee Kuan Yew, The Man & His Ideas, 1997
"I started off believing all men were equal. I now know that's the most unlikely thing ever to have been, because millions of years have passed over evolution, people have scattered across the face of this earth, been isolated from each other, developed independently, had different intermixtures between races, peoples, climates, soils... I didn't start off with that knowledge. But by observation, reading, watching, arguing, asking, that is the conclusion I've come to." - Lee Kuan Yew, The Man & His Ideas, 1997
"If, for instance, you put in a Malay officer who's very religious and who has family ties in Malaysia in charge of a machine gun unit, that's a very tricky business. We've got to know his background... I'm saying these things because they are real, and if I don't think that, and I think even if today the Prime Minister doesn't think carefully about this, we could have a tragedy." - SM Lee Kuan Yew, Straits Times, September 19, 1999 on Malays in the Singapore Armed Forces
Well Ah Chia,
Why don't you direct all your unhappiness to our MM Lee instead?
No use ranting and complaining...
"He" would be the best person to sort out all your unhappiness.

Men are equal??? well, in my tender age, i already know men are not equal, more so in we women. Men can never be equal, the lady statue on the supreme court holding the balance weight had never been equal, it slighted one sided, that shows that men created laws are not equal too, there is no such thing as FAIR, you can be near to it, but there can never be a fairness where both side are happy about it.
Men are born uncivilise, cannibals and irrational, but somehow they are just trying their best to be civilise and rational, as for canniblalism, instead of eating each other, they do it in a more civilise way, take away your wealth, your property, your rights, your future, your freedom, and sometime, your soul.
So dun fall into men trap, be able to understand that men are afterall creature of destruction for the gain of oneself. With that, i rest my case.

please understand this..i am the same as LKY a baba BUT it seems that the privilage is extended to those who are under him by family tree or worker..i DO NOT have any of these and am going thru the same like every suffering singaporean.
however i will make 1 thing clear..CSJ is TOTALLY out of my support list ..after what he did to his mentor chiam see tong.
on the other hand i will lean to other opposition partys like wokers or reform or chiams party.
please understand this..i am the same as LKY a baba
I am not against baba.
I am against the mother fucking suppression of dialects by that mother fucking bastard Lee Kuan Yew.
You baba or not baba, hokkien or not hokkien, jew or ang moh, malay or indian, I don't care.
But why you mother fucking go and suppress?
You want me to learn your colonial ang moh. I already kowtow to you already. You all have the advantage, raised on colonial language.
Fine I go and learn.
But why you come and suppress my dialect?
Still got the fucking face come tell me with straight face what learn english make the races fair.
Please lah, I hear also want to vomit blood you know.
The lesser Babas could find jobs easily in the business houses, or as junior officers in the civil service, because they were English-educated.
Despite these economic misfortunes, the Peranakan community’s investment in English education and their empathy with the British were, once again, rewarded amply.

You got face to say I don't have face to hear.

I didn't target you. You misunderstood my intent. I apologise.
I know you are not like Lee Kuan Yew would go and suppress us non-peranakan chinese.

We ought to suppress your ki-siao attitude, whether pernakan or not.
You obviously know there were dialect riots in the past but yet all the chinese cannot see eye to eye.
LKY came up with the speak mandarin campaign to solve the problem but end up none of the chinese can remember their roots. So you better come up with a better solution against the dialect riots.

Riots in 1960s, campaign only in 1979?
Originally posted by Ah Chia:Riots in 1960s, campaign only in 1979?
At the least they tried to do something. But you never even bother to come up with any measure to deal with the problem.
Just admit it if you hate Peranakans la. I can understand that because I have met anti-Peranakan people before. In fact, my superior at my previous job was anti-Peranakan. Yeah, she hated the whole lot of them. (I didn't leave my job because of the prejudice though.)
If this was a fair discussion, the topic will only limit to LKY and his policies.
This thread is like some thread to single out the Peranakans who support LKY and those who don't i.e. same as people on a black list and people not on the black list.
Honestly, this thread is like whipping up an angry crowd. You may not realise it but there are people who DO take your views seriously and think that Peranakans are plainly trouble in Singapore. (with probably an assumption that since Peranakan are an ethnic group and related, they have the same thoughts and ideas)
Yes, I'm Peranakan before you ask me that question, and I'll say that I have no special views on LKY being a baba. If LKY intended to be pro-Peranakan, he would have recognised the Peranakan as a separate race rather than put the whole lot of us with the Chinese. (akin to the special status of the Malays in Malaysia) But no, he didn't.
I agree with what annilator47 had said as well.
this is like watching jerry springer.

I think Mr Chia should lepaskan spring and stop picking on the peranakans indirectly cuz sometimes it is damn irritating.

Mr Chia lepaskan spring and chiong at anything linked to LKY, no matter how remote, or in fact no link at all. He won't understand what is lepaskan spring and stop.

In his NS daze they used bird lastic that is why>LOL
Originally posted by BJK:Like most peranakan, probably MM maybe be shy and feel degraded to say he is baba. I remembered during school days and in the NS, babas were always being make fun of because they were not able to speak mandarin. As a result, most peranakan will not admit openly. I am also surprise that now peranakan culture is being promoted in Sg due to commercial reasons. In my view, whatever background you come from is not important as long as you behave like a normal human being.
This is a racial remarks, we must have racial tolerances, the PM just spoke a few days ago on racial issue, and now you are destroying our racial harmony here. What the hell, what is wrong with being a baba, hokkien, teochew, javanese, bugis, tamil, caucasian or any other race for that matter. We are Singaporean, ALL for one and one for ALL.
SO whether it is LKY, David Marshal, Lim Yew HOCK or whatever LIM SENG SIONG Supermarket or Chee Soon kueh, we are still Singaporeans, ALL for one and one for ALL.
