Might whack the Fernvale one for 5-rm... Mar 2010 one
The first one is Buangkok one, 4-rm, Jan 2010. Not near any MRT, but I think location not bad...

we can wait - we need to raise funds for the wedding
we don't wish to pay $400,000 for something we can get at $250,000 for just waiting 3 years.even if we rent 2 rooms at $1000 a month, 3 years will cost us only $36,000 compared to $150,000 we will paying more
wouldn't life be great if you can have a flat at $250K within 3 months ?
The housing price is the culprit for more young couples to WAIT.
Seriously, the gahmen's intention is very conflicting, don ya agree ?
On the one hand.. they want people to get married younger, and they want couples to have more babies.
Then they slap young couples with high housing cost that will take a young couple 3 years or more to save up.
The gahmen really do need to make up their minds and stick by it.

I just checked out the fernvale one .... looks good, near enough to the LRT but not enough to be a nuisance.

but again, not defending the government but to have a flat within 3 months means HDB will build first and then ask us to choose later?
if my memory didn't fail, i think we had something like this in 1997? too many surplus, not enough demand of flats... and they came up with only got demand then build...
anyway, i depend on you Singaporeans to show the government that we need change in the next G.E... all this complaining here won't help... we must take power back...

well isn't it time they change the policy to reflect the current trend ?
In 1997, wat was the marriage rate, age of marriage/parenthood , birth rate like ? Higher than today yes ?
Surely, the scholars are smart enough to link the dots together, yes?
But if their current intention is to keep flat values sky high, there's really no reason to supply enough. Then something's gota give.

The government want to EAT it all.........they want folks to increase birthrate and increase national income all at the same time....
but because they continue to drag their foot on birthrate policies so they have to come up with short term policies of increasing short term labor forces to purge up population.
declining birthrate isn't this decade problems it was like back in 1980 problems.
Until they stop taking shortcut and look at the basic needs of young couple and serious about puting brithrate as Top priority National Agenda to solve the declining birth rate.
And the "housing" issued is in the mids of this Birthrate policies....if Bird can't built a "NEST" definitely got no eggs to collect.

Dont get fooled!
The govt like to give two extreme choices in the argument. Either zero foreigners or uncontrolled immigration like the last 3 years. Why cant it be gradual intake like what have are having in the last 2 decades?
Either BTO or a huge over supply of flats like 97. There is no middle ground e.g. hold a smaller projected 1 year's stock.
buy from hdb lah, why resale flat?
buy sembawang lah, why sin ming?
I wish I can buy a new flat or a BTO from hdb.....

Maybe the Ministry of National Development (HDB) is at logger head with Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Defence.
why has a car, if your hubby is on a contract job? why not 3 room flat? why not jurong, or sengkang which is definitely cheaper than your current flats?
me and my wife stay in my mom house for 1 year before i decided to buy a flats. there is no such things as property prices forever go up. sustainability of housing is depends on earning per capital. from what i see now, this is obviosuly a bubble!! do you expect a property agent to tell you, property prices will come down next year and ask u to wait.
govt will not tell you they are clamping down hard on speculations fearing of deflation economy. this is ppl stop buying altogether because, they know they can get cheaper sometime later.
be street smart.

Must a car always be a luxury ?
Some jobs require a person to have their own transport you know ?
this i agree... my father in law is a laser printer toner salesman... he needs his car for delivery...

Not just for salesmen, there's plenty of outdoor technical/engineering/construction jobs that requires a lot of traveling. So a car is a necessity.

but most of the time if the job requires travelling, usually there is transport allowance you can claim... or even company's car that you can take... my ex company has 2 cars for us to use when we need it and if we have our own car, they will pay for season parking and some petrol allowances.

if u NEED to have a car for work
1) it should be covered by the company (even if there is no car involved, a company should give transport allowance if they require their workers to travel for work)
2) if one is working freelance, the price of transport should be considered in the payment.
anything else is a luxury and there are alternatives to owning a car, like car rental / car sharing / car pool
Grace Fu: PRs are “helpful” to HDB flat owners when they sell their flats
Written by Our Correspondent
In an interview with Channel 8 Focus programme yesterday, Senior Minister of State for National Development Grace Fu admitted unwittingly that PRs are indirectly responsible for the sky-rocketing HDB flat prices.
“”We have some Singaporeans coming to us and saying ‘I want to sell to a PR because the PR is giving me a better price than Singaporeans.’” she said.
PRs are allowed to purchase resale flats in Singapore without any restrictions and sell them for a profit later on. Some PRs have “spoilt” the market for paying higher than market rates for the flats they want.
The state media reported an Indonesian PR who forked out $653,000 for a 4-room resale flat in Queenstown when he could well afford a condominium.
Grace Fu also implied that PRs are “helpful” to HDB flat owners as they are willing to pay a higher price for their flats:
“So even though we may not want to have many foreigners or PRs buying HDB flats, if you’re an HDB flat owner and when you’re selling the HDB flat, a PR is helpful for you as well. So for all our policies we try to take a very balanced view.”
HDB has denied repeatedly that PRs are the culprits for jacking up prices of HDB flats. National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan said a few weeks ago in Parliament that PRs who make up “only” one in five resale flat buyers, have minimal impact on resale prices.
Law Minister Shanmugam claimed that according to his “hunch”, Singaporeans are responsible for the escalating prices and not PRs and foreigners:
“The first misconception is that somehow there are five million people and that is putting pressure on all of us. It doesn’t. Of the five million, 3.2million are citizens, and roughly 500,000 are permanent residents (PRs). The remaining 1.3million are here on temporary work permits, and they ‘impose no burden’ on the public housing system.”
[Source: Straits Times, 18 January 2010]
The prices of resale HDB flats grew by an astonishing 8.2 percent last year with median Cash-over-Valuation (COVs) doubling from $12,000 to $24,000 in the last quarter alone.
Despite evidence showing otherwise, HDB continues to insist that public housing remains “affordable” to the majority of Singaporeans.
As expected, Ms Fu made use of the opportunity to re-affirm the government’s “committment” to ensure that HDB flats remain “affordable” by their standards:
“The hot topic has been affordability of flats and also what is the impact of foreigners on the prices of HDB flats. So I think we have explained that we’ll continue to focus on affordability. We’ll continue to push out the BTOs.”
National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan who admitted that he was “caught offguard” by the climbing prices has come under increasing fire from disgruntled Singaporeans for his failure to control flat prices.
When asked by the media on the possibility of Mr Mah losing his seat in the next general election, PAP strongman Lee Kuan Yew retorted that Singaporeans must be “daft” if they cast a protest vote against his party over rising HDB flat prices.
