A TAIWANESE couple have paid $650,000 for a four-room flat in Bain Street - smashing Housing Board (HDB) records and reflecting the strength in the red-hot resale market. The sale price works out to be $736 per sq ft (psf) for the 30-year-old flat on the 25th floor of a block at Bras Basah. That is the highest psf price paid for an HDB property and is on a par with prices of private homes in suburban areas.
most likely , it's an investment to them - waiting for enblock, etc.
in between Bugis and City Hall mrt - high ROI

If dont have a big head, dont wear a big hat. Live within your means is the way.
Earn $1 and spend $1.20 how not to be in trouble?

Mar – Blk 445 & Blk 451 – S$398K
Just wonder which block she bought? or $100K over declare or under table ?
Below 5 storey? Most of such units are owned by the Malays lo. At least must get between 8 floor to 12 or above for fair comparison.
funny how, these foreigners are messing up the markets and this can hurt sg buyers, HDB as heartlanders houses should not be price at such a high price, these foreigners do not bear the consquences of our citizens nor they understand our society and our wage tag, and with the govt turning a blind eyes to it, I get feeling that one of these, a reale HDB flat is going to cost 1 million.
In my native land taiwan, the public houses, govt build for working class are price at a mini and max range, and as foreigners, you are not suppose to buy it unless one of yr spouse is a citizen there. Only when there is excess, then maybe thru a relative, you can purchase it. Freehold. Because these houses are mend for working class, the prices meet the wage level of these people, no way, any one can go in and manipulate it up as in a free market.
HDB had lost it true identity to service the working class singaporeans. Good luck to singaporeans
Why would an engineer need a car for work in the first place? Especially when OT so much... Don't even need it to travel much...
hi eagle,
maybe he is sales engineer?
some of the sales engineer or engineer need to travel frequently.
as i said, the TS din mention much.

hi angel, i dont agree with some of your rubbish talk but you bhit the pt here.
HDB has lost it identity under MBT. we really need to vite this fellow out of HDB to tell the ruling regime, dont screw with singaporeans!!
the tension between singaporeans and foreigners are cause by the ruling party. they fail to foresee what kind of social problems that will cause to the society. only rectified the problem when it surfaces. what do we pay millions to such minsters? they should have foresight and provent the problems altogether that why we paid them millions to do this shit!!

As LKY said "Bear with it". Govt knows the impact of foreigners among the locals here, their idealogy is to dump all of us together and let us grind out a society of our own nature. If you study sociology, you will understand the term Coefficiencies of society. Experiment shows that if you dump a cat and dog together in a cage for sometime, both will come to term with each other, and everyday, you take and study cohesiveness of both of them, make a mark or point of the Coeffi chart, and as times goes by, both will join as one.
That is what our govt is doing, dump all foreigners with locals, let them grumbling and fight over each other over foods, manners, hobbies, way of life, culture, orientation, etc etc..and everyday, someone in the sociology room will discuss and place a point on the chart, and as time goes by, the govt will view and attend this sociologist presentation, from there, they will determine whether to increase more foreign intake or reduce etc etc

bad example angel, my dog will bite the cat till its half dead.
If you put the jewish in jerusalem with muslims, you get war never peace.
we are no longer in the old days where most of our ancestors are immigrants. they do work together, but their dreams is also going back to their motherland that is china. only when KMT lost the war and my great and grandparents are worried about communist that they decided to stay in singapore for good.
nevertheless, you are right to mention the govt let us fight with the foreigners for survival.
that's true, but that's not a frequent occurence.
My sis is a sales engineer btw.
that abit weird. i use to work as a sales engineer after grads. company pay me $800 car allowances( petrol included) + company season parking at office building. basic salary+ car allowances + sales commission.
if the TS husband is a engineer, on a contract basis in GLC, it is highly unlikely to be salesperson, highly unlikely to be commission. if that the case, really no pt to own a car on a meagre salary just to live the singapore dream.

But we are in the mid of it, my dear Fuhrer, we cannot assume a case of religion conflict or war, at least, there is a history in it, and people are more objective in their conflicts with an ultimate goal. However, my dear Fuhrer, we are in a mid of nowhere, they have smoked our identity, they had teaches us to be at peace, harmony, racial tolerances, endurances, patriotic, courtesy, gracious and be good and loyal to the country we called our motherland. Then they influx foreigners in and ask us to bear with it, except it, tolerant it, bear with it, be courteous to them, guide them, and due to our good upbringing. we did as per told, but instead of appreciating what we are doing, they input more and more foreigners in with disregards to our livinghood, our culture, our wages, our diminshing patriotic senses etc etc...
We are certainly not fools, but seem like being make a fool by them, them!, the one we supported, the one we praised, the one we embraced, the one we call our govt, our rulers, our master, our guidance...if Singaporeans, rich or poor do not have a single feeling of being betrayed, then i think Singaporeans are robots.
hi angel,
sometimes i feel you are pro PAP, sometimes you are anti.
i guess you are being objective.
i agree with you pt above.
No, many have wronged me, I am a objective person, whoever is right or good, i support it, PAP have some good policies which i support, but not all, I am not like those die hard opposition fans who will support opposition and condemn whatever PAP policies, good or bad.
It is of good luck that LKY knew and learned from history that people like Hilter, Stalin, Mao etc etc had failed miserably as dictators, if he has no knowledge of it, I think he is now a full dictator, but because he learned from history that dictator dun last long, he pulled his handbrake, go hide behind the curtain and rules in a more engaging way. Citizen of Singapore are in luck that he pulled his handbrake, otherwise, most of us maybe worst than robots
