I have been contemplating for a long time.
God said that he is a compassionate God then why did he strike down all the first born of the Eqyptians. Doesn't that make God a baby killer?
If so, why should I worship a baby killer?
let's not forget the Great Flood and the drowning of the Egyptian army in the Red Sea !
all points to a most blood-thirsty GOD, wouldn't you agree ?
that's just one of countless reasons why i only keep him as a pet !
It was the King that sent order to kill the first born. I don't remember reading that God was the one.
someone told me, god was portrayed as angry, wrathful and vengeful. whoever in the second testament, god was portrayed as merciful and compassionate? why the differentiation? first testament was written by a vengeful bunch of old fogeys while the latter part was written by a bunch of enlightened young people? or god was suffering from a split personality?
so doesnt it makes a mockery of this statement, "love your enemies"...................instead it is kill and destroy your enemies.

yes, i read, it was god who sent god's angel of death to kill the eldest child in every egyptian house. he told moses about his intention.
sorry to spoil your fun, people.
I wont even bother to cut and paste but those who are genuinely seeking answers or want to reason, click here.
no offense to Buddhists or Buddhism, but for the above who might be practising adherents, since when is it good karma to criticize or misrepresent other people's beliefs? are you being consistent with your own beliefs?
Another case of just knowing a small part of the whole picture.
Whatever happened to all that Karma teaching. If I am not mistaken, Karma is through thoughts, words, actions that we perform ourselves ,actions people do under instructions.
I may be inclined to think you guys are blind men trying to feel an elephant,
but I must say its more like amoebas in an ocean trying to ponder a whale.

it is important to analyse every wording of the bible instead of blindly following of what is written. it is not about karma.
God is really bloodthirsty to kill the firstborn of the Egyptians. He did not follow the principle that he has set. He told others to show mercy but yet he himself showed no mercy for others.
I will return you and all christians a question. If this loving god of yours turn his face against you and strike down your loved ones, would you still love him?
Think about it.
if God becomes your enemy, will you still love him?
if God is your enemy , you must lagi love him more otherwise the bloodthirsty devil will kill you jialat jialat......!!!!!
unless God is your Dog lah !!!!

Read the book of Iyov. Job.
What principle did Yahweh not follow? Are you a mere human qualified to judge Him?

Answer my question. If God deals with you harshly and earn your hatred, would you still love him.
With this, I put each and every disciple to the test.
Breytonhartge, i say to you, drink the cup of trial and tribulation before you speak.
The test is not for God but for the disciple.

Dear Cck689461,
I don't see God dealing me harshly. At our time, I see God as my Saviour.
"For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
It doesn't matter what you believe in, I will still be praying for you.
God bless. :)
have u seen god before? why not tape it when god is talking to you, so that you can show proof once and for all god exists and we could put this to bed immediately.

Hi Rooney9,
I do not mean seeing God literally. I meant seeing God in a perspective of Him changing my life.
You can't believe anything with just me talking. I doubt bombardment of bible verses will not help too.
I believed after I experience God's love and healing. Yours may be different.
God bless. :)

Let me explain to you how religions came about. think of ancient people who lived in caves and forests, when their livelihood was hunting for food. they could not understand the natural phenomenon like natural diasters and the like. so they thought they must be a god overseeing these phenomenon.
Do you know what I am getting at?

Your explanations is just to justify what you believe in. I have no comments in what you believe in yet I don't stand by that statement.
With different perspective of religion, I am just sharing my views here. Out of my personal testimony of what I have experienced in the past, God is good. :)
avoidance is the way

this is not my beliefs this is a fact. alot of our myths from our ancestors or ancient people were the result of the things they could not understand, because science were non existent them. they could not believe the earth was round instead of square, because in their minds, how could anyone live on a round surface.
but its ok if you were reject this, as I know you will surely adhere to your beliefs anyhow. at least you do not resort to desperate measures like name calling unlike some here. maybe its early days yet. you may resort to name callings later.

I assure you my posts will remain mature.
There are a lot of facts that happened where science could not explain. What should our justification be then?

if science cannot explain, then you think religions can
if religion can, then all these while dun see them come out to explain the earth was round and things like that?

You don't need religion to explain that earth is round.. I was referring to some things that have happened that science could not explain.
Things like miracle healing, how the earth was formed, etc.

so called faith or miracle healing is not so miracle after all, it is placebo effect.
as for how the earth was formed, science did explained. go google or wiki for it.
u seriously you cant expect me to believe earth was formed in a mere 6 days by a divine being, come on.
