Up there dun use or need to study statistics....anyway they dun have to.....omnipotence comes into magical play....
the real statistics are the deaths turn into the soil and fertilizers....we see food for the earth for the living things in turn and in turn for what walks on 2 legs....and the recycle begins again....
so which direction do both go spiritually?....perhaps one go west..and another go east....
LOL
to answer the question. i don't know, but my guess would be around the same. because Christians or not, we're still humans. still subject to the same deadly diseases or accidents that may occur to anyone. so yea..it's ok to ask such a question, but what's your purpose?

just a suggestion, perhaps you shouldn't use physical methods to prove spiritual matters. it's just using a ruler to measure weight. it's totally 2 different dimensions with regards to the same thing (life, that is).
It is not just about how long you live but how you live life in itself.
This is something not just myself but even how some of my other friends think. And among these friends are not just fellow Christians and also friends of other religions or in some cases, believer of none.
Originally posted by Fairyfairy86:well, may be to you guys is a funny question but to me is a serious question. i have seen too many early deaths around me. i wish to have a longer life span and will choose a religion which tells me how to live longer.
i believe between prosperity and longevity, many people will pray for longevity.
anyway, one of my friend has just told me how to have a longer life span through religious mean. so moderator can close this thread as i have already got the answer.
You should be asking which religion is best for longivity.
Good luck to you, in whatever you believe in.
There is a big old tree in Batam, walk round it 100 times and you'd live till an old age it is said. You are free to try that too.

its quality, not quantity that counts.
I rather live 30 years of quality life than 100 years of meaningless life.
since everybody asks me why i started this thread. i shall tell you guys why.
recently, one of my colleague passed away and left behind 2 kids who are 4 years and 2 years old. she converted to christian few years ago against her mother's wish. her mother was a taoist and uneducated. her reason was christianity does not teach longevity and leave everything to god's will.
my colleague had cancer and i heard from my other colleagues her mother still blamed her newly converted religion and her husband for converting her on her last breath in bed. when we attended her wake, i heard from her siblings that her mother refused to attend her wake.
her earlier remarks (before my colleague had cancer) strike me whether religion and life span is it co-related. afterall she is not educated (not that i look down on her), based on what she said that ( no statistics to show).
at her wake, her 2 young kids did not seem to know their mum had died, still playing catching happily and even went to their mum's coffin to say goodnight to her. this is really heart breaking. thus, i have been thinking of what the old lady said and wanted to find out whether religions teach about longevity.
In old testament, longevity is promised to those who are obedient.
In this age of grace, there is no such promise.
But it is my unblibical opinion that true Christians do live longer.
It is also my unblibical opinion that true Christian families have less tragic lives.
Never convert just to live longer. If u do, u r a nominal chrisitan and are not saved. To truly convert means true repentence and believe in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ who makes a believer righteous before God.
To convert for material reasons is a false conversion. Be careful. God is not mocked.
In christianity, commandment number 5 says ''honour ur father and mother and ur days shall be long''...so christianity does teach longevity...i close my case here...

Let me explain to you, it is simple really. The world we live, we have to get sick and get old. as a human being, there is every chance you will contract a serious deadly diseases like cancer and many others during your lifetime. this is unavoidable. this tells you how fragile our life is. besides being struck down by a diseases, there is every chance we might get involved in accidents or murdered by criminals. we may take for granted that we may live till old age, but who knows when the car your are travelling, or horrors of horrors, the plan you are taking crashed. what I can tell you is this, this is life.

I see. I believe a huge part comes from how you live. Your lifestyle. Anyway its really unpredictable. You might live to 100, and maybe gone tomorrow.

i have a deeper thought for religion lately. i think religion should teach more about longevity and happiness in this life rather than concentrate too much on afterlife. if that religion can grant us to live happily and healthily, the followers will naturally believe what the religion says about the afterlife.
if not, how to trust the religion can give me a good afterlife when it can't even give me a good life now. however, the religion can teach, it is still up to the person to practice.

If thats the case, then i think buddism more suited for you. Its also related to meditation which may be also related to longevity ??

yeah, i think i have to settle down on a religion. still reading on buddhism. there must be a reason why some people live longer and some live a shorter life and how to live longer because i thought of getting married and have kids

Generally if you are going for religion to increase your lifespan, you are doing it wrong. Maybe you can spend more time to read on healthy lifestyle better. You can post to AEN if you have any questions on buddism.

fairy, my advise to u is dun talk about buddhism here. reason is simple. buddhism, to christianity, is satanic and false to them. post at wisdom bliss there if you want to discuss buddhism, not here.

well, i guess this will be my last post on this subject because it makes me feel blue. i just want to say i've seen people dying from accidents, so reading on healthy lifestyle is only part of the answer to longevity.

Immortals live longer, humans live shorter. =)
