Are all muslims members of Al Qaede?
Are all Buddhists vegetarian or abstain from beef?
To give an example from within sgforums, you feel Christians should not use Bible verses to discuss, sometimes, some other non-Christians feel Christians should share Bible quotations.

I am genuinely trying to clear it properly with you and it is not bait of any kind. Do not confuse me or my manner of posting with someone else.
Once again though, I thank you for remember and making the distinction at least that there are difference even among Christians. Just hope that you will not lose sight of that, even when people repeatedly try to do so.

Conclusion: Mother Teresa is stupid
it did not take her the enitre life to doubt God....you mistaken.
but it does not means that she does not believe in God......again, you mistaken.
by being "stupid", she has served many needy in the slums and her actions speaks for herself. to the people whom she has served, they appreciate not just her being "stupid" but also the "stupid" idea that "God loves them" cause they felt and experienced it.
you didn't....

we know our earth is not perfect (we know what is sufferings) even though we have not been to heaven (we have not been to heaven but we know heaven is definitely better than earth). i wonder you get what i mean?
maybe, it's because there are sufferings here and so we want to spend our eternal life in heaven. we have not been to heaven but we believed that it's a place that does not have suffering.
maybe, it's because there are sufferings here and so we want to avoid going to hell and suffer eternally.....we have not been to hell but we believed that it's a place that does have suffering.
regardless if heaven and hell is true...regardless is God is true.....regardless what faith we embraced or no faith, we do not want sufferings.....
in the case of Christianity, it's about following Christ.....about following His way. what is taught in the Bible - to love your neighbour.
by following Christ's way, we are being directed towards the direction of heaven (at least the beliefs of Christians) as His teaching is about doing what is good and right.
before flamming comes,i am not saying believe in Christ go heaven, don't believe go hell....NO.
believing in Christ means loving your neighbour thus, doing good....and people of all faith (and without) do good deeds. not just christians.
..... and the actions of rony tan, mark ng and konge hee is not in line with that (imo). but then they are not the only ones....and people of all faith (and without) do evil things.....you can see it here in this forum.
therefore, only people who do good (follow Christ's way) will go to heaven like what He said in the Last Judgement in Matthew chapter 25. Jesus is here to save - not condemn.
and as far as i understand, the Bible has never said that with God, there is no sufferings or if you believed in God, there are no sufferings.....
in fact, Jesus said, "come carry your cross and follow me"....... suffering and natural disaters are not an indication of non-existance of God. any questioning where is God when those things happened does not help either....instead, ponder why those things happened....

well said. i wonder how many christians out there share your view. but to me, in christianity, the answer to sufferings is not satisfactory.
Originally posted by despondent:its my own explanation on how christianity views life...we acknowledge sufferings but focus on the blessings....
have you thought of those people who were born in certain parts of africa. they were starving all time, many were starved to death at young age. sufferings start since birth. where to count their blessings and how to focus on blessings. may be they have mistaken sufferings as blessings.
we really have to count our blessings because we were born in singapore. i really dread the idea of rebirth when i thought of africa.

thank-you and plenty......you just need to avoid small churches especially those calling themselves mega....and stop reading too much anti-christians stuffs... can read but also read the pro-christians stuff to get a balanced views.
nobody can provide any satisfactory answer......can you?
Ya good question. How many christains actually share the same view ? As for the suffering part, its another topic altogether
Go ask all christians if they have experienced either god or the holy spirit in their lives.
I am sure some will doubt the very existence of god.
to fairyfairy...
precisely. to such ppl, give then a small bowl of porridge and that is blessing...so it all depends on wad u noe/exposed to...u find christianity explanation on sufferings not satisfactory? sure, no problem but how abt christians find buddhism explanation on origins of life unsatisfactory???
let me again apply wad u said...why do u find christianity explanation on sufferings unsatisfactory? could it be cos buddhism focus alot, in fact much more on sufferings than christianity? hence, due to that massive exposure to the teachings on sufferings, another religion(christianity in this case) answer to sufferings is seen as unsatisfactory? to a someone of great wealth, having a small bowl of porridge everyday, living in slumps is seen as miserable? u get wad i am saying?
christianity focus alot on blessings and origins of life...so to us, other religions may be seen as insufficient in answering qns abt origins and blessings in life...
Which is why i have always been telling u...christianity and buddhism are VERY DIFFERENT...

there is no god in buddhism.
thats the most important difference.

what's the christian answer that you've heard?
and fairyfairy, u said it rightly that we shld count our blessings that we are born in singapore...so to us, those in africa are suffering...i have no worries abt being reborn cos i dun believe in rebirth....tat is another topic altogether...
24/7, she is probably referring to my answer plus some more she heard which i dunno...
dragg, i agree wif ur pt but there are many more differences...

yes, some (rather most if not all) will doubt the very existence of God at some point of their journey.....it's normal and what most of us is trying to explain.
but do not mistaken that as they do not believe in God or that God does not exist.

How sure are you that it doesnt exist
Irregardless, we all seem to be focusing on faith/non-faith . Of course while there will be people who praise her, there will equally be people who will call her stupid.
But whether she deserves to be praised or whether she is stupid or not does not change the fact that through her religion, she has help countless. Shown love where non exists in the slums.
We can talk.. its easy to criticise and to praise. But given the situation, will anyone one of us got the balls or even the dignity to do what she does ? Anybody ? Mmmmm ?
Thats right.. thats what I thought.
Nobody.
