If God told you that you were DEFINITELY going to hell regardless of anything that you can possibly do in your physical or spiritual life and that this was not a test...
Would you still go to church? Why?
go to church ?
the pastor will burn it down first !
the very reason why people become Christians is becoz it's the ''easiest'' religion and promises so much !
it's like telling people you can get to the top of Mt Everest by sitting at the bottom without the need to climb.
LoL if God told me that ?
Its going to depend.
Is it REALLY God ? or the Devil ?
But if u already say that its.. THE GOD...
then really.. what can u really do.
I wonder what will everyone else do. Will u still persist in doing good ? Or might as well.. grab an AK-47 and go postal. lol
so as a christian, did you experience god or holy spirit encounters and beyond doubt?
In my experience I should say yes.
Maybe not "holy spirit" encounter like those that have exprienced it more personally, but I experienced what it is to have faith.
Looking back at all the things happening, who am I to say that it wasnt a blessing ?
So many situations and circumstanes. Is it luck ? I have wondered about those. U look back and you wonder.

i've seen and met people like you who thank god for the blessings they have but something terrible happen to them in their later life after all the blessings. some still continue to thank god, some begin to doubt, what about you? touch wood, but what if something happen and you won't call it a blessing happen to you, will you change your view ?
Nobody likes going to hell right ? Thats why the concept of heaven is so awesome

This reminds me of the example that I heard of before when 9 miners were saved while 9 died, with a christian holding up the sign "9 for 9", yet in another incident, 1 miner was saved out of 13, yet no one held up a card saying "why 1 for 13?"
Perhaps the explanation that we cannot fathom god's ways might apply, so then why do we give thanks for "blessings"? It seems to be a clear willingness to accept fortune as something planned by god, but cast away misfortune as something else.

Ur faith may depend on how much u truly understand the bible, the teachings and your place on this earth.
If I were to give up just because things do not go my way, what does that say about me as a person ?
Terrible things happen. Believing doesnt mean u will be protected by this invisible shield and ur luck increases by 50%.
Sometimes its through adversity that one can really see the light.
And the light can be the way out..... or an oncoming train.

Reminds me of the hypothetical scenario of the speluncean explorers.

Christ's sacrifice on the cross?

Exodus 4:11, "Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?"
Isaiah 45:7, "I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the Lord, who does all these things."
Lamentations 3:37-38, "Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and bad come?"
The Christians who do that need to contend with these verses.
to reinforce further wad 24/7 replied to dadeadman...
how abt now i reverse the scenario? it seems a clear willingness to non-creation believers to blame sufferings on God but give thanks for blessings to sth else other than God?
again, is the cup half-full or half-empty??? i read fairyfairy's posts...so negative and cynical...is the world realli onli abt sufferings and no blessings to be thankful abt? sufferings are real but blessings are not???
and fairyfairy, nobody is saying that the sufferings is great or small...the forumer was juz quoting a scenario...pls do not read and interpret things at face value...moreover, wadever he shared is not representative of wad christianity says abt sufferings...i said it before in another thread tat u will view sufferings greatly cos buddhism focuses alot on sufferings...so in ur mind, sufferings has been magnified...for a religion like christianity tat teaches blessings more than sufferings, blessings are magnified so the focus is on blessings...unless u believe tat blessings are not real, if not u cannot say christianity is wrong to focus on blessings...
If God talks to you and you still don't believe, you must be really stubborn.
i wouldn't trust God since he RAPED Mary and then knocked her up.........made Joseph a CUCKOLD and then had him raise his BASTARD son.................

do not know how you get that idea...which of course was twisted ... and not facts as stated in the Bible.
God did not raped anyone....
Mary was chosen by God who send angel Gabriel to her asking her if she is willing to bear the child that will be Jesus.....she agreed because she believed and trusted God.
Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and not sexual intercourse.....and certianly no rape.
since Mary conceived without sexual intercourse with anyone, how would Joseph be made a cuckold?
and Joseph too was chosen by God and when he decide to call off the engagment (to protect Mary), he was spoken too and he too obeyed God because he believed and trusted God.
sure, the "story" may be unbelievable to you and that's ok. don't believe it then don't trust anything from the Bible...but to say God raped Mary, Joseph is made a cuckold and Jesus is a bastard is uncalled for.....and unncessary for the discussion.
God is my source of power. He helped me many times.

if God were to tell you, then it means that you know for sure that God is real and why would you not believe in Him?
if God says there is no heaven and all will go to hell....then what can we do?
do we still go to church then? why not?
if the church preaches to love your neighbour and not just preaches but does so in action....then why bother about heaven and hell? you go because the churches teaches you good morals as well as for your children...
to answer why yes for yourself, you must asked yourself why do you want to go to church and the purpose....and what does the church really preaches....not based on hearsay...my friend say, anti-christains literatures, anti-christians bashing etc.....they mean NOTHING.
go to a church and find out what they are really about and then decide.
(when i say go to a church, i mean main stream churches that has proper trained pastors and priests. not some ah hee, ah tan or ah ng church.)
just like going to school does not mean you will end up with a degree and success in life....so should we stop sending our children to school?

In other words, would you still love me (God) tomorrow.

so at end of the day, the all-powerful God still can't get a son without a mere human female lah !
and the strange thing is he supposedly created humans, eh ?
the whole story is so ridiculous, only the naive will believe !
at least in Star Wars, George Lucas gave a more believable storyline of how Anakin Skywalker was conceived...............through the Force.............LOL
