buddhism is about the law of nature. it teaches how the law of nature works. it is not buddha's law. he is the one who understands how the law works. you have to choose between believing in law of nature and god who is supposed to do wonders (provided you have seen the wonders he does, have you? i've not). is god fair ? do we have free wills to choose where to be born, rich or poor family ?

Hi, religion is a personal choice. What works for one may not work for the other. I have my own religious beliefs, but it is not my place to expound the 'strengths' and 'weaknesses' of the respective religions based on my own views. Instead, I have the following advice:
1. Evaluate a religion based on its teachings, not on the behaviour of its adherents
2. Go by your gut feel and your conscience. If you feel that the inherent teachings of a religion is 'wrong' or does not make sense, then listen to your heart. You may clarify those dounts with other members of that religion, but do not be swayed by the rhetorics, threats etc. At the end of the day, it is more important that you will be at peace for whatever religion you chose for yourself.
u have not because u chose to discount His wonders as fake...like i said, wad if i showed u a video clip of miracle healing which was certified by doctors to be genuine? will u believe it? ask urself why christians have seen his wonders but u havent? is it cos we have beem deceived or is it cos u refuse to believe sth that is contrary to ur belief?
u had to end ur post by saying sth against christianity...it shows u cannot be objective wif christianity...
my post above was for fairyfairy...

so you have seen rebirth?? I have not.....
and I don't think your understanding of christianity is correct.....selective reading perhaps??
or perhaps an example of freewill? No?

Fairy fairy said early christianality teaches reincarnation. She believes early christianality is close to buddhism. The christianality now is different from early ones to her. Clearly she believes earlier christianality is correct.
As far as I know Christianality where gt teach reincarnation or rebirth.
u noe why she is so excited tat earlier christianity is close to buddhism? cos she had always believed(until now despite several of us telling her tat they are different) that buddhism and christianity are the same...so if earlier christianity was indeed similar to buddhism, then she will be proven correct on 2 counts...1) tat both religions are the same, 2) christianity was the one that later on got corrupted and taught false doctrines...so christianity was the one that moved away from the original truth...
she places her trust in sources she saw and read about...i wonder if she bothered to check the reliability of the sources...well, we are humans lah...we like to be correct in wad we believe...if the sources are in our favour, we tend not to bother checking their reliability...
hi imacatt
i'm a catholic.. catholic believe in heaven, hell and purgatory. What's purgatory? well, its a sort of purification place where yr venial sins (not mortal sins) are being purified while waiting to enter into eternal home with God. Venial sins are small sins eg.. telling small lies,.. some pranks.. etc.. nothing that serious.. however that warrant some time in purgartory being cleansed.
So all is not lost.. dun worry, God Loves you and me and everyone on this planet earth, not just catholics, christians, including buudhists, hindus, muslims, atheists everyone. I would say majority of us end up in purgatory cos to go heaven we have to be perfect.
So in our Catholic tradition.. we often offer prayers for all souls usuallly 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary, and 1 Glory Be for all who have left us. We even have a day dedicated to all souls on Nov 2nd of every yr with a mass. If you have catholic relatives or friends.. you would know they either go to CCK christian cemetery or catholic churches columbarium on this day to pray for their loved ones.
If you have every intention to know Christ and His Holy catholic church and its teachings.. dun be discoraged by such scandals such as child molestations. There are black sheep in every religion who gives a bad impression to non believers. Believe that God send His Spirit i.e Holy spirit to enlighten and encourage you. Dun be disheartened. If you are serious, i'll pray for you to make the right decision. Talk to a catholic friend abt yr intentions and ask any questions you need to know abt the Catholic faith or email me if you have any thoughts or questions and step right in if you are almost ready..
God Bless You!
a catholic

many Christian ideas don't make sense eh ?
there's no need for a religion at all !! in truth, all religions are man-made............
the very idea of a God Creator is totally man-made..........that's why when you go through the Bible or other religions' versions of it, you realize the stories in them are too human to be divine !
Buddhism is referred to as a Science.........
even the Buddha said '' in truth, there are no Buddhas and no teachings ''........the ultimate reality is that all things are no-things.............not nothing but no-thing..........
1 answer... Christianity, John 14:6 states clearly so "The way, the truth and the life", hence, Christianity is the only true religion '
I know some people will say this is a round argument, but for clarification, by VPP, VPI, bible is God words and is faultless

My fav bible phrase. The way the truth and the life.

So i feel that a religion that has the concept of reincarnation shd be fairer.
How many heavens and hells do Buddhists have? ...A lot!
How do you propose to go through them all? And how many times must you be reborn before you reach nirvana?
i dun tink there is a specific number of rebirths...it varies from soul to soul...some will take more rebirths, some will take fewer...but ultimately, every soul will eventually become a buddha and reach nirvana...in fact, even heaven and hell will cease to exist one day...

so, people who embrace Buddhism should be called scientists?
and the temple should be called science center??
and why are Buddhism represented in the inter-faith thingy??
i am convinced by now you know nothing about Christianity......
are you trying also to convince us that you know nothing about Buddhism too??
"there's no need for a religion at all !! in truth, all religions are man-made............"
"...go through the Bible or other religions' versions of it, you realize the stories in them are too human to be divine !"
then isn't Buddha a human too?? why you quote him?? or is it an example you are trying to prove to us that "the stories in them are too human to be divine !" ????
perhaps you are just another trouble maker......
in any case, you are never coherent in the first place.....
Aiya, talk so much. We will know the truth when we die. Can we have an agreement, whoever die first, come here and tell us what is the truth. Can googoomuck give us your address, so in case anyone here becomes ghost can appear to him and prove that there is ghost.
Every religion will say theirs is the only truth. Just like a salesman promoting their product, they will also say their product is the best in the market. Whichever consumer agrees will buy the product. Same goes for religion.

Christianity or Buddhism, all are humans. They were born humans, Buddha and Christ. None of them flew down from heaven. It is only that after born as humans, some claim to be divine and flew up to heaven. If is divine, why didnt Christ flew down from heaven, more convincing, why must born as human ?

Of cuz all religion will say theirs is the truth so better dont debate on such stuff.
Like do u go to ur muslim frenz and tell him in buddhism there's no Creator? He will punch u a few times i guess. Denny their God, they sure get angry.

He must be born as a human to understand human suffering. To understand human temptation the weakness, then he can better help us.
If he just fly down from heaven like that he cant understand our suffering and weakness as a human.Like that also not humble.
Also Jesus is God but he temporarily let go of his status as God during his stay on earth. This is called humble.

Buddhism is a religion or else it will not participate in our national inter-faith dialogue.
Buddhism also has a place like heaven call Pureland, it is for Buddhists to go (must be good lah) after they pass away.

Many consider buddhism as a philosophy.
My philosophy book inside got buddhism, hinduism, jainism and other ancient indian religions.
hey stardust, in ur book is there christianity? juz curious...
to pinknutri...
theres a dinstinct difference btw jesus and buddha...buddha was born 100% human and after years of cultivation, he became enlightened...hwoever, no true buddhist(including buddha himself) considers enlightenment as Godhood...
for Jesus, he was conceived and born 100% human AND 100% God...in other words, he came as God in human flesh...he was God when he was born and he acknowledged people calling Him God the Son and proclaimed to be 1 member of the Holy Trinity...
whatever i have shared comes straight from the teachings of buddhism and christianity...i am not stating here which is right or wrong...juz providing info best to wad i noe...
