So looks like all originated from Buddhism.
U r correct. All these practices of meditation come from buddhism. Christianity does not teach meditation. Christians only pray. God is the object to whom we pray. Christians acknowledge God as creator and Lord, and human are the created. I think in meditation, you try to feel that nothing exist, not even you yourself. 四大皆空.
So it is a catholic who practice buddhist meditation. Nothing to do with Christianity.
But it is interesting that maranatha means "come to me, O Lord Jesus". Do buddhists call to Jesus, and acknowledge Jesus as Lord??

Of course not, some Buddhists chant "Amituofo" when meditating. Buddhists don't believe in creation. Believing in creation is a never ending story. Who created God ?

Go and read Wed. Straits Times on page A10. Anyway, meditation can be practiced by anybody and it will benefit anyone who practice it even though they are not Buddhists. However, I think they need to acknowledge that these practices of no self and meditation originated from Buddhism.

Meditation refers to a family of self-regulation practices that focus on training attention and awareness to bring mental processes under greater voluntary control and thereby foster general mental development and/or specific capacities such as calm, clarity and concentration.
Meditation is an english word translated from latin and can be traced back to prehistoric times older civilization where repetitive, rhythmic chants offered to appease the gods. References to meditation with Rishabha in Jainism go back to the prehistoric age with the Acaranga Sutra dating back to 500 BC. The earliest written records of meditation date to 1500 BC in Hindu Vedantism. Around 500 - 600 BC Taoists in China and Buddhists in India then began to develop meditative practices.
I guess everybody can try to calm their mind by meditation, but the point is when they meditate and chant, whether amtuofu or maranatha, they ought to say something they understand or believe. Calling on Lord Jesus but do not believe in Him, is like seeing a doctor but don't believe in his advice and refuse to take his medicine, is simply stupid.
Who create God? first you must believe in the existence of God, if not, end of story.
Man is created by God, and man return to God in eternity, end of story.
Born into this world, die and come back again, die and come back again...that is a never ending story.

That is misunderstanding and misconception that many people like you have. Buddhism did not preach die and come back again. The purpose of being a Buddhist is not to come back again unless you vow that you wish to come back as a Buddha to save others. That depends on individual vow and not every Buddhists make that kind of vow.
It is only through Buddha's teachings that you will not come back again and that is the main objective of Buddha's teaching. If you did not follow Buddha's teachings on how not to come back again, you will definitely come back again regardless of your religion or no religion.

I never refer to Buddhism in my post, don't jump to conclusion. I know I definitely WILL NOT come back, whatever the buddha's teachings.
To each his own.
Wait this chat become popular MARANTHA. Sicne MM Lee chants this.
The meditation practice by MM lee is actually an eastern meditation technique.
John Main the founder of so called christain meditation mentioned in the article. He learned to meditate using a mantra from his Hindu teacher - Swami Satyananda .Swami Satyananda taught John Main meditation using a mantra as the means used to arrive at meditative stillness. The Swami taught him to meditate by giving him a Christian mantra.
