I find it strange that ancient people in the Bible had names like Mark, Luke, Matthew, John....dun u think ? They were not English, why have such names?

of course not ....their etymologies could come from hebrew, greek and egyptian writings.....it was then lated romanized or latinized into modern day alphabets la....
e.g. Luke was.....Greek Λουκας....Loukas)...
