didn't the Church kill and imprison people in Europe during the Middle Ages if they say the Earth wasn't flat ?
i recall reading about how Galileo kept quiet when he knew the Earth was round becoz he was scared....................who can blame him ?
and since the Church forbid people from questioning the religion.................as dogmatic and brain-dead as ever.....................i don't blame them !
why ??? becoz if people are allowed to question the faith.................the Church will lose all money and power.........................

just like monks who are suppose to embody the teachings of Dharma.... they too commit crime.

not necessarily true, there are many religious organisations (not just Christians) that are poor and continue to good work.
it's just that you are also one of those interested in fault finding and not fact finding....

the popes in the middle ages practiced usury by being in cahoots with the Medici family.................
and in WW2, they kept so much Nazi war loot to this day....................
and now the Vatican Bank is ranked No.8 in the world when it comes to money laundering money for the mafia....................

How about Helping Hands and Breakthru missions that help to reform ex-convicts, or World Vision Organisation that move into impoverished countries and help the needy.... to name a few....
you seem only interested in looking at the negative sides and totally disregarding the good works done....

The Church tried Galileo for saying that the earth was at the centre of the universe. This was first proposed by Copernicus, who was not tried 200 years earlier.
The flat Earth model was held by many pre-Classical civilisations around the world and was quashed by the time Magellan sailed around the world in the 15th century.

Some churches and temples are "business"....but I think that's a minority....sooner or later the disciples/devotees will know and leave those establishments....
