another loophole spotted.
before the advent of Jesus, there is no heaven because he was not born yet.
is the heart the matters not how many % u tithe...
is it one of the mega church or small church ? if small church, it is understandable why the paster insisted to keep the cashflow coming................
right.........who wants a stingy bastard in heaven, eh ???
better to have rich crooks instead !
I must emphasise that in Christianity, tithing is NOT compulsory, no where does the Bible say that. However, it is highly recommended. I will not duplicate what the pastors are saying here.
Think of it this way, any organisation requires money to operate… run their buildings, pay their staff, run programmes.. mission trips to less fortunate countries… where does the money come from ? the members! Those who are really committed to the church will definitely come out with some money as contribution to defray the expenses.
why is it like highly recommended and not listed as totally voluntarily?
how do other religious organisations operate? i have not heard of other religions listing exactly 10% of their salary as donation or what not. hmm..
since the bible encouraged gathering, then can gather anywhere right, multi-purpose halls, schools etc. i thought as long as have faith can already? ain't faith the most important thing?
Heaven is empty if Jesus never die for our sins.
So before Jesus was born, those who did not commit any wrongs or sin before they died got unplugged and went into the matrix ar?
The 10% is from the Hebrew text. Like, if you have 10 sheep, give one to the temple.
So when modern day Christians ask, what is the amount to donate (tithe) the answer come up as 10%. Fanatics will swear by it, moderates will say it is only a guide.
Giving is a test, can you let go of what you desire. Giving what you don't want or need is not giving, thats discarding.
Can anyone give truely, giving what still has value to oneself.
boh great Jerusalem sale ah ?

before Jesus those people who were born earlier went to hell, cos Jesus come later.
god had the idea of selling real estate in heaven.....................but no suckers fell for it.........not even his angels.....................
so he got jesus to con humans.....................
i was just wondering? what's wrong with giving 10% for tithes?
this was not going to the pocket of the Pastors, but it is used to enhance the facilities of the church and its activities. for mission in example.

nothing wrong with giving, but be careful how you use the money. It is under charity act and money collected is considered public funds and is under very strigent scrutiny by the government and the public.
so the heavy responsibility is on the users, not only are they responsible to the government and the public, they will be held accountable to God!
As far as $ is concerned, excess will always cause trouble, lose control will always become temptation, and when others have it, there will always be jealousy.
no worries...................the Vatican Bank is no. 8 in the world when it comes to money laundering money for mafia
LOL. My pastor also told me terms are not negotiable because the terms are set down by "upstairs", literally.

I would simply ask him "How do you know?" The second thing would be that if his God was so omnipotent, why would he need mere donations from humans? I am always wary of people who claim to "act in the name of God", as it always seems to coincide with their own selfish desires. :)

it doesnt matter which church because the 10% thing is in the bible and pastors from MANY churches do preach about the 10% thing.
I was from a small church and the pastors are rich! They have condos and cars. It's the issue of whether the pastors should use that verse in the bible anymore
Of course it matters. You are saying it is a question of the church's use of the verse. So it matters what church it is.
If you're trying to smoke me, it's not working.
Go and join the temple and pray la.

I am sure not every single church pastor in singapore will force you to tithe...whether to tithe or not is your own free will....u become a christian only when u think u are ready...not coz of convenience....tithe or not is up to individual..just becoz one church pastor try to get you to commit 10% of ur income...does not means every single church will do tat...you are just targeting the religion itself in this thread...this is not the right thing to do...whether you have anything against the religion itself best to keep it to your ownself...not spread untruth around....><"
maxsee
WHen did I say that ALL churches ask people to tithe? I didn't. If you read carefully, I said MOST. I know some churches do not require their members to tithe and that's good.
However I've been to many churches (and heard from friends from other churches) that quite a number of the churches do require members to tithe and they do preach to their members to tithe.
I'm just asking if it's correct for these churches to QUOTE verses in the bible to tell their members to tithe.
