An Appeal To Reason and Civility

  Hi Eternal Hope-rs,

  I've taken a cursory glance at this forum. Some impressions and thoughts, if you don't mind reading. I tend to ramble.

  My first impression was this being a "place for Christians to meet and talk". It says so in the forum heading. There have been some stimulating discussions about religion and spirituality in general, and Christianity in particular.

  As with every forum (whether online or not) about religion, a topic particularly sensitive and relevant to many, there will undoubtedly arise heated debates regarding fundamental questions relevant to all beliefs, not only Christianity. As I have said above, many posters have raised insightful and intellectual topics and contentions.

  Then again, sometimes discussions degenerate into simple mockery. I am making an observation about forums like these, applicable not only to this one but to many others on the net. Postings essentially along the lines of:

  "all YOU atheists burnZ in hell! Unbelieverzzz; repent or be d amNed!! HE is the WAY!!!"

  Conversely,

  "All U Christian Wus sies!! U & ur misguded beliefzzz aboUT GoD. Too scared to live life on yoUR own, so MUz depend on AN IMAGINARY DEITY"

  
  I'm positive that all of you have friends who believe or don't believe in a particular religion, or in any religion. I'm also sure that you don't judge them any less as individuals for holding such beliefs/opinions. And they likewise too.

  Let's all be civil and raise genuine questions, where you truly seek answers. If you feel the need to express your disagreement (contempt even), it doesn't hurt to be gracious.

  Just based on a cursory glance, I've spotted posters like Asromanista2001, who seems to post an inordinate number of threads on a daily basis. He is certainly entitled to his opinions, nothing wrong with that. Some of his topics make sense, many more are fairly irate. On the other hand, forumers like Rooney9 bring up interesting and earnest queries.

  Let's all learn from each other, yeah? Let's work towards improving the quality of our discussions here. Let's go beyond posts like "City Harvest is a scam!" or "Protestants > Catholics > Atheists"!

  At least I am the only believer in this eternal hope.Although I am not a Christian now,I feel sick of my own religion.

  My religion is Buddhism which I feel have became perverted since 2004.The good doctrine of vegetarianism is washed away with Amituofo chanting.

  hi those who posted...the extent of this forum has gone to the pt tat they will accuse all of u as clones/trolls cos suddenly new users of sgforums come and post here...for me, i understand its possible ppl may do tat but unless i can prove, i choose to give thme benfit of the doubt...

  They are not same people.

  how to be friends with you lot when you insulted people's religion as satanics for a start. you probably am thinking I am going to hell when I die. with a person like u around, who needs enemies
