That's true.
Actually just for all of your information -
1. Atheists do not have a set of laws or doctrine like religious people but what's common among us is we do not believe in the existence of any gods due to lack of evidence.
2. Atheists do not hate any gods. Some atheists reject religion totally while some like me can appreciate the non-supernatural elements of religions.

1. Sorry I THOUGHT god was real, until i saw all the absurdities in the book. You defend the religion very poorly honestly. When you said the earth is 6000 years old based on the bible's chronologies, you already shut out christianity to all smart people. WHen you say the earth is 6000 years old, know that Many christians WILL NOT agree with you too.
2. We are against the idea of christians pushing their religion as fact, not because we are angry with a god or a fairy.
Tcmc,
1. What do you mean by absurdities in the Bible? Anything that does not sit well with the naturalistic mindset you hold to? Perhaps I am a lousy defender of the faith, so be it. But it seems that you are not even able to hold your cup against a lousy defender of the faith. Again, smart people can also be wrong and believe the wrong things. Being smart does not mean you are right. I will only defend what the Bible clearly teaches. I do not see a need to dilute it or deny it just to make it palatable to "smart" people.
2. What do you mean by Christians pushing their religion as fact? Define "pushing". BTW, you have no issue with people pushing their view that evolution (molecules changing to man over billions of years which were never observed by any man) is fact?

I warned against mixing religion with personal pride...wrong? Be honest
laurence,
The Bible warns about pride, so thank you very much, but I already know this. I am only asking you, since you warn about personal pride, whether atheists are guilty of that when they portray themselves as Brights or more rational than people who have religious beliefs. I note that you have steered away from answering this.

I beg to differ. I think from what's going on in forums like these, it is more true that Christians are the easiest to pick on, because those who bash the Christian faith know they wouldn't get hit back, since they know Christians are somehow supposed to be so loving and docile and always turning the other cheek, ya? And of course if the Christian does demolish their objections they can always play the guilt trip and ask "Oh where's the love? So critical and so judgemental one!"

Tcmc,
Actually you are not mistaken here. Atheists have their creeds too. There are certain things that all atheists believe in. They even have their own let's-affirm-our-faith functions, like the Atheist Convention that will be held in Australia. Mind you, there is even a book titled "The Atheist Creed" by Michael Palmer.
You said that atheists do not hate any gods, well I beg to differ. And the question is not whether you appreciate religions (appreciate sounds so sweet and innocent) but whether you think all religions are false as an atheist.

Yes a typical YEC and bible literalist like you would then say "Atheism is a religion!"
Thats what I used to do!
You can just read up the simple definitions of atheism and religion then you would know the differences.
You are on a monologue. For the thousandth time, yes
1. I do not hate any godsbecause I cant hate things that dont affect me at all.
2. I appreciate religions ,including your Young Earth Creationist form of Christianity. (certain aspects of every religion)
3. Yes I am still an atheist

Tcmc, You claim that atheism is not a religion is because you have little idea what atheism entails. No honest atheist would dare say that he knows God does not exists. Instead he says he believe there is no God. Even the courts in the US have judged it to be a religion. And the patronising remark about appreciating religion is just to make yourself look good. Why are you fearful to declare that as an atheist you consign all religions to falsehood and delusions?

Die die a self righteous man will argue till the cock crows the next morning. Self righteousness is a sin as stated in the bible so is arrogance. The guy you are talking to has both. If christians were to live with others with the love of God there will be more converting to christianity. Sigh!
Christians can have good knowledge of the bible but if some of these refuse to show people God's love it is futile.
this whole thing doesnt make any sense at all? they say nobody can comprehend god divinity, but heck, we cant understand why god need to flood and destroy mankind? he, oh since god is not a human, I should not have call him, I shall refer to it. it should have destroy the world isnt it, send a flood for what leh
also accept Jesus as saviour in order to be born in heaven, u think this is a salesman, selling membership to people. so those people who were born earlier, was consigned to hell, since they did not have the opportunity to be born when Christ was around lar
Nah, accept christ does not mean to be born in heaven.
It stated in the bible it is not easy to get to heaven, christians must do as God wants, repent , do the will of God ........ then there will be possibility to go heaven. Accepting Christ is not a visa approved to go heaven which I know many christians take it this way, too bad lol. But when they evanglise to get members to join God's family none tells the non believers about this.

1. Atheism isn't a religion. Atheism is a lack of religion based on lack of evidence. Lol....To use your logic, if atheism is a religion, then not playing football is a sport. Funny? It's your logic!
2. I think because you're not an atheist and you only listen to what your pastors say, you have very disturbing perceptions of atheists. No we don't "believe" he doesnt exist. In fact, we lack belief. It's very different, in case you dont see it?
3. "Even the courts judged atheism as a religion"? Source please. Please dont skirt the question again.
4. I already replied on the other topics SOOO many times that I do appreciate all religions, including your Young Earth Creationist brand of christianity. If it doesnt get into your head after so many times, it tells me something is seriously wrong with you.

Because these were just Jewish stories in the old testament meant to teach truths.
BIC
Any response?
Thanks in advance!

Tcmc,
By the proper definition of religion atheism certainly qualifies to be called such. See http://creation.com/atheism-a-religion
Atheism is not a lack of religion, it is a DELIBERATE rejection of all religions. Please don't try to sanitise atheism and make it so innocent sounding, as if you cannot help it. And please don't try to force your warped logic on me about equating football with atheism. An atheist, while rejecting God, also believe in many things and make many metaphysical claims about reality that are equally religious.
You don't lack belief in God, you REJECT God. Know the difference. To lack something is a deficiency, and hmmm.....perhaps that's true! To be without God is to be deficient. I think somewhere the Bible says that eternity is placed in our hearts. If God does not become part of our lives then we are not living as we ought to.
I don't mind dispelling your ignorance. See http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=31895 No need to thank me!
What in the world does it mean to patronisingly say that you appreciate YEC? It means nothing really if at heart you already decided that YEC is a false position, a pseudo-science, lies etc etc. Why are you so patronising?

BIC,
1. Sure you got the definition of atheism from a creationist christian website. Very objective :)
2."Even the courts judged atheism as a religion"? Source please. Please dont skirt the question again.
3. We don't reject "God" or "Gods" per say. We reject the "concept and idea of a supreme being" because of lack of evidence. There's a difference my friend.
4. I appreciate YEC that you can have such a "different" POV on all issues from age of the earth to evolution.

Tcmc,
1. You just committed a genetic fallacy. Go find out what that means if you have no clue.
2. I provided the website, don't be lazy to click and read.
3. Lack of evidence or not, you are consciously REJECTING God. Fact is, there are people who respond to the evidence for God positively and those who do not. So please don't give the lame excuse that evidence is lacking. It is not.

1. And so if you reject my definition of christianity according to an atheist's perspective, will you be committing genetic fallacy too?
2. No mention of civil courts deciding atheism as a religion. Or maybe I missed it. Could u point itout?
3. Nah we reject the idea of Gods, just like how you reject the idea of other Gods in other religions.

1. If I have committed the genetic fallacy, please show where. Otherwise it is lame of you to concoct something.
2. Which part of "A federal court of appeals ruled yesterday Wisconsin prison officials violated an inmate's rights because they did not treat atheism as a religion. Atheism is [the inmate's] religion, and the group that he wanted to start was religious in nature even though it expressly rejects a belief in a supreme being, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals said." do you not understand?
3. Thanks for admitting that you are consciously REJECTING the idea of God/gods altogether. That's what atheism means, and that's what I am saying!
Na nah na na na, na na nananana! hooray!
