Let us define faith as belief in a god or religion in the absence of proof. I don't show myself, you just believe I am real.
Although man has been free to conjure up dozens of religions, faith is coincidentally an ingredient in most or all belief systems.
Who else finds it unconvincing that despite the diversity of these religions, the eons and the civilizations that evolved them, not a single one of these god has lifted a finger to show that he exists?
This despite stiff competition between faiths, anguish and violence caused by faith and various benefits touted, such as avoiding divine punishment or an unpleasant afterlife.
Let me help my theistic friends to answer why God(s) does not show that he exists.
That we in our limited scope of understanding are unable to comprehend the full glory of God(s), whatever God(s) this might be. We however, can find God(s) through his/her/it/theirworks. For the presence of God(s) is everywhere, and if we can't see the works of God, it is because we have our hearts closed off to God(s). Only by accepting God(s) can we see him/her/it/them.
I agree with you that faith alone is a very poor indicator of truth though. One can assert whatever he/she wants, but it is necessary for him/her to produce evidence in which the analysis of that evidence points towards a single conclusion, can that conclusion be considered true.

the truth of the matter is this. physics is the language of universal truth. what the believers believed without doubt is that everything and anything was created by god. so if you discovered something new, it will be attributed to god's work, so dun bother. in their belief system, it is god, god and god. other religions are false and satanic. those not accepting god grace will be condemned to hell, period.
I will not accept this kind of belief system. it borders on the absurb and doesnt make any sense. even the concept of god was created and attributed to man. this is an irrefutable truth.

I don't agree with this, it could entirely be that both you and I are wrong and the concept of God was created by aliens, who appeared that they had wings when they brought this concept to Earth thousands of years ago. We don't know for sure 100%, so we can't say that it is irrefutable truth.
Of course, we do have evidence to say that it is probably what happened.

You're saying all religions have the same excuse: he won't show himself because we cannot comprehend him?
Actually why can't we comprehend him?
And you haven't answered: why is it that religions disagree on everything, but not one god shows himself?
simple reason why it doesnt show itself out......simply cos...........................doesnt exist
God definitely exist....................he's my Dog...............
Keep the Faith~~Bon Jovi
there are things we cannot reason or fathom but through leap of faith...
imagination is the great subset of faith and passion that inspires and produces visionaries like Steve Jobs
Is Jobs a christian?
he was...
he is now impermanent
probably in the other world he will invent something that will link that world with this.
good one.... and he already did with his legacy ...
of vision, faith and passion than pure reason to live
creationist belief system is becoming obsolete, irrelevant.we know there is no sun god, no moon god, earth god etc, just natural phenomenon in this universe, in our solar system. it was as ancient as obsolete.

Obsolete but popular and for some, profitable.
