Wow, $5 bery X leh!? *kidding*Originally posted by THE ANALYST:Just my $5 worth.
It's precisely the sort of mentality like yours tat makes ABU detest things abt United!Originally posted by mercutioz:Pray tell which club's supporters don't brag after a victory? Let alone a consecutive of titles? Perhaps Man U did get lots of tag-on supporters who climbed onto the bandwagon during the heyday of 90s success n they went overboard. But don't tell me the Liverpool fans of the 80s r jus as saintly?
Every club has its share of good n bad apples. Jus that Man U happened 2b successful at a time where football coverage is exploding. Perhaps Fergie n a couple of Man U players come across as arrogant n overbearing but that is jus perspective. I do see Arsenal players n Wenger behaving badly in some occasions. Who can 4get Henry resorting to fouling his marker when he don't get his way a few seasons ago. It's jus human nature. Can anybody guarantee their team will not brag after said winning the European Cup or the League title? It's within their rights, at least until the new season starts.
Seeing ABUs ard is jus plain childish. Instead of concentrating on hating a club, why don't they jus b more concerned abt the club they choose 2 support? The 80s belong 2 the Reds, The 90s belong2 the Devils. Enuff said. Until the Reds established themselves under Benitez 2 mount a decent challenge... any comments on other clubs will jus seem like sour grapes.
Alex Ferguson might b overboard n outspoken n all of the above, but it's jus perspective, isn't it. I don't deny the fact that some of the antics he got up to over the years r unbecoming n did blow up in his face. But so did Wenger with his proclaim of Arsenal going undefeated a few season back n his myopic view when it concerned his own players' behavior n disciplinary records.Originally posted by THE ANALYST:Though it might be the case that it is the so called human nature to so called become cocky and arrogant when in such a fine position like Man U was in the 1990s and early 2000s, there should still be no justification for that kind of behaviour, behaviour which even someone in a good position can do without and eradicate.
Though I might not be completely correct, the Liverpool fans might not be saints or saintly but from my observation they are generally not as bad as the Man U fans.
U must have some nasty experience with some Devils fan but that's ur problem. Wat I m simply saying is which winning team in the world don't come across as arrogant to the others? I agreed that Ferguson's personality doesn't sit well with everyone and some of the comments Gary Neville said shld b stuffed back into his mouth.Originally posted by Redz:It's precisely the sort of mentality like yours tat makes ABU detest things abt United!
It doesn't take 1-day to become ABU...and trust me, it requires some courage too. But sorri, it's not my full-time job...I need no concentration to do tat, it juz happens naturally! Altho I must add tat I dun take much pleasure fm declaring myself as one...but I do so partly for the fun of it
It's no coincidence why till these days, there are still ABUs around. Tv-coverage are even wider, and they're certainly more successful clubs than MU. So why aren't the Gunners more hated by others?! As I've mentioned b4, there's a limit to being arrogant...n MU has far exceeded tat limit!
To win is one thing...but do so "gentlemenly"; ie, dun put others down for your own gains (eg. fergie's mind games). Only then, can a team be recognized as a true champions - both on and off filed!
They can be beaten any other days. Portsmouth 2 MU 0Originally posted by mercutioz:whenever they play, why can't they acknowledge that the Devils do have the ability to beat anyone on their day?
At least Man U did manage to stop the Arsenal train where none manage to regardless of the controversial circumstances. [/b]Yes, MU won but not convincing. They play some "smelly" fooball that night. Ok, a win is a win. So hope MU can show more good games.
But when we beat them in recent years, did u laugh at them for 3 whole WEEKS?!Originally posted by frOst^~^nOva:i hate MAN U only becoz of their freaking arrogant supporters, especially after a victory. Like the time man u beat liverpool this season, my fren was laughing at me for 3 whole days!!!
I dun suppose u belong to the "nasty" type of fans...so let's try to discuss things nicely here.Originally posted by mercutioz:U must have some nasty experience with some Devils fan but that's ur problem. But isn't it the same for all successful teams at the time when they r successful? Back in the 80s, the Reds must have gotten their share of detractors too. The reason that the Gunners are not more hated by others is due to the fact they have yet to be consistently successful as Man U in the 90s nor Liverpool of the 80s and also they ve' yet conquer Europe. Bside, they have their share of hatred, jus asked any Spurs fan.
Here I get the feelings that most ppl hate Man U not bcos of the players but bcos of Ferguson. While most of them is quick to put down the Devils whenever they play, why can't they acknowledge that the Devils do have the ability to beat anyone on their day? And their style of soccer was th e most entertaining during the 90s.
And regarding Fergie's mind games. I do recall some reporter once asking Bill Shankly regarding football and his reply. "Football is more important than life and death". It's how he motivates his players n when u talked abt "gentlemanly" conduct. At least Man U did manage to stop the Arsenal train where none manage to regardless of the controversial circumstances.
