LEGEND WOULD WELCOME THOMMO RETURN Mark Platt 09 January 2005
Liverpool legend John Aldridge has revealed he would love to see former Red Davey Thompson brought back to Anfield by Rafael Benitez. Since being sold to Blackburn by former boss Gerard Houllier during the summer of 2000 Thommo has blossomed into a player on the verge of a full England debut.
A product of Liverpool's Academy, he was a FA Youth Cup winner with the Reds in 1996 and an extremely popular figure with the fans in his four years as a first team squad player.
There was a lot of surprise when the right-sided midfield man was allowed to leave and Aldo believes the time could be right to bring him back.
"David Thompson is a wide-man I suspect would be within the club's reach and who'd be a great addition," he says.
"He was deemed surplus to requirements by Gerard Houllier. But a move to bring him back to Anfield would be universally welcomed by the fans. He has proved at Blackburn what a talent he is."

how old is he now? haven't heard much from him for a while ... he was quite a fiery and combative player which i thought was what we needed ... can he play wing? ... given the way he left and the way he celebrated his goal against us, i don't know if he'll want to come back even if we're interested ...

He is fast. He is small. He is aggresive. Impressive i must say.

I want Alan Thompson more than David Thompson ._.
liverpool now are just trying to fill in the holes by buying fringe players... why buy fringe players when you can save money to buy better ones?
