Manchester City chairman John Wardle would consider a bid from Liverpool for their highly-rated winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.
The 23-year-old England international was wanted by former manager Gerard Houllier shortly before he lost his position and his successor Rafael Benitez has also made tentative enquiries about the player's availability since taking over.
City have never been interested in selling the player and until now have simply said "hands-off". However with Kevin Keegan now having resigned from his position, Wardle made it clear at a press conference this afternoon that if offers came in from any clubs they would be considered although he stressed he would rather not sell him.
City coach Stuart Peace has been appointed manager until the end of the season but Wardle says whether he or someone else is in the hotseat next season, no money will be available without selling first and Wright-Phillips looks the obvious candidate.
Wardle said: "We've got to look at everything in the summer. I'll talk with Stuart if something like that happens (a bid). I'm not looking to move Shaun or anyone else around."
Liverpool will certainly monitor developments closely.
