Liverpool midfielder Igor Biscan has admitted he is likely to leave Anfield in the summer.
Biscan came close to quitting Liverpool during the January transfer window only for a spate of injuries to end his hopes of moving on.
The Croatian international has been informed that he does not figure in Rafa Benitez's long-term plans and that he can leave.
Biscan, who is set for an extended run in the side following an injury to Dietmar Hamann, is putting all talk on his future on the back burner until the end of the season as he tries to help Liverpool end the campaign on a high note.
"The way things are looking now I think I'll be leaving at the end of the season," Biscan told the club's official website.
"I want to do well for myself over the rest of the season and in doing so I'll do well for the team.
"If I'm going to leave the club then it's important I play games to show the other teams what I am capable of.
"I am happy with the way this season has gone for me. I had a chat with the manager before Christmas and he told me I wasn't in his plans. In that situation you need to think about your future but I never thought about leaving.
"Even though I wasn't guaranteed first team chances, I didn't want to go. I wanted to stay until the end of the season to do my best if games did come along for me."
German side Hamburg are believed to be monitoring Biscan's situation at Anfield and could make a move for him in the summer

every manager has their own outlook on these things.. where a player stacks up and if they fit...
nothing's fixed..
noticed how successful teams can be broken up.. and still be successful?
Juventus did it once and kept a few like del piero and still won the scudetto the next year...
sometimes for a team, less may be more..

Biscan is good for European Soccer.
Unless Ah Ben is capable of getting an able replacement, no more of the silky spanish players from Valencia.

Biscan is not that good anyway. He is playing ok recently, if u look back on his first few years can die. I used to ask why he was ever in a Liverpool jersey.

Igor Biscan, despite his amusing appearance of cluelessness, is a terrific player. Even many loyal Liverpool fans forget that when he was signed in December 2000, he came in as a defensive midfielder and the Captain and most popular player of his club Croatia Zagreb. He had, at the age of 22, become a regular in the Croatian team (which at the time was excellent) and had played in both the UEFA cup and the Champion's League. He certainly had what it takes to make it at Anfield.
He impressed for the rest of 00/01 season (including wins over Arsenal and Man Utd - outclassing Vieira and Keane on both occasions and being hailed in the press) until Houillier moved the towering lad into odd positions, on the flanks, and where he was most criticised, at centreback. Biscan could not cope with his increased defensive responsibilities and his form suffered until he was dropped from the side.
I hoped that Rafa would see Igor's qualities and retain him as useful backup to Gerrard or Xabi, seeing as how Hamann is on the verge of retirement (or at least, moving on to a sunset club). Igor has been class on the Continent, with superlative displays in the Group Stages and First Knockout Round of the Champion's League. His vision and dribbling are top-notch at times, but he struggles to find consistency without being able to get regular football.
He's worth keeping, and certainly capable of justifying the 5.5 million pounds the club paid for his services.

Biscan will be a good back-up for Xabi Alonso. Better still, put Biscan and Alonso together when both Hamann and Stevie G are gone. Please, we need more hardmen, not softies like Luis Garcia, never can hold the ball under pressure.

I was never an admirer of him -
I like him to stay .
I like his professional attitude .
Like some of you had said , we need back-ups for Alonso , Gerrard and Hamann , and Biscan can come in handy .
We need 4 active midfielders for the UCL ( 8 games at least )...EPL ( 36 games ) , FA Cup ( 6 games minimum ) , Worthington Cup (4 games minimum) .
How can a team have only 3 midfielders covering so many games ? What if Gerrard & Hamann is injured ? That is the time we need Biscan , as a reliable back-up .
Biscan can go , if Rafa can find us a solid reliable replacement .
Still i prefer Igor to stay . -
So.......is Igor staying ?
Or is Benitez keeping him ?
Especially that crucial goal he scored to beat Bolton 1-0 ?
Alonso is important to us , Gerrard is indispensable at times , but Igor is the man ....... a pure professional we need in times when this 2 fella is absent .

To be fair to Ah Ben, except for the goal that Biscan scored, Biscan and Welsh did not perform well last night.
Liverpool is basically playing with no midfield.
The defenders always pumping balls to Bolton with no striker in sight. -
It's good to hv players with the rite attitude....but to be at the top, we will need better players than the current batch, including those on the bench. Of course with tight budgets and the competitive mkt, Beni will hv to work this out....but let's wait till the season ends!

they are still better than everton. everton made the mistake of selling gravesen to REAL. the 4th position is liverpool's.

since biscan has already decided to leave, i think rafa should just look forward and try not to urge him to stay. anyway he has been giving games to our academy youngsters (potter, whitbread, raven, warnock, mellor partridge and most recently john welsh)
we all know how highly rated welshy is (he didnt even complain when GH failed to keep his promise of letting him play in at least 10 games) and only when biscan is gone(no disrespect to him), it'll only be then that youngsters from our academy (like the ones i mentioned) be able to finally get a chance to prove themselves.
i've always been an admirer of biscan (only when hes CTR-MID) always remember the 3 goals he scored for us

Benitez should keep Biscan!
He's a boyhood Liverpool fan who plays with his heart, never complains and always gives 100%. Every team needs players with the right mentality and professionalism.
No harm offering a short term 2 year performance based contract to Biscan. Knowing Igor, he will re-sign and become an asset to the LFC first team! -

'Cos he does't have any International duty anymore !
Any player who doesn't feature in for their respective country is always a asset , just ask those Elite Manager !
