Cech fires Reds warning
Petr Cech has warned Liverpool that they have a long way to go to challenge Chelsea for the Premiership crown next season.
Benitez has vowed to make wholesale changes to his squad in the summer in a bid to push harder on the domestic front, but Chelsea keeper Cech has warned that they are a long way behind.
The Czech Republic shot-stopper says that he is not worried about Liverpool challenging for the title next season.
"The Premiership is different from the Champions League, and Liverpool lacked consistency last season," said Cech.
"They played some fantastic games, but then they lost others because they played very poorly.
"They have to improve this aspect of their performances if they are to challenge, and at this stage I am not worried about them."
Cech admitted that he was backing an English side, containing two of his Czech colleagues, as they somehow managed to come from 3-0 down to beat Milan on penalties.
"I was watching the first half and AC Milan totally dominated.
"I told myself at half time that I would watch only another 15 or 20 minutes, and if Liverpool didn't score in that period I wouldn't watch any more.
"I was upset for Milan Baros and Vladimir Smicer, because they are good mates.
"But fortunately what happened meant I watched the rest of the game. It was unbelievable.
"And when Andrei Shevchenko missed his chance near the end of extra time.
"Jerzy Dudek will remember that save until his dying day.
"It was incredible: to make a save like that at the end of extra time in a Champions League final is amazing.
"And Steven Gerrard has been the leader and the best player for Liverpool all season, so I wasn't surprised to see him play as well as he did on Wednesday."

the UCL trophy aside, Cech has a point..
95 points as opposed to 58 points is not funny... that's a whopping 12 games difference!
the consistency of Chelsea is staggering.. points total, it even beat the previous 2 best points total by quite a large margin...
can LFC come up with this kind of consistency?
only Arsenal seems to come close.. and was only derailed temporarily because of that MUFC match..
LFC has to pull up its socks before challenging for the EPL title... until it can play at 120% each game (which is impossible), their cruise control speed is well short of the cruise control speed of Chelsea and Arsenal... -

their squad has depth.
liverpool must make full use of their funds and sign really good players, including those on the bench.
a championship winning team must have at least 2 good players for each position. -
