Croatian midfielder Igor Biscan has not been offered a new contract by Liverpool and is subsequently available on a free transfer.
There was talk that the 27-year-old would be rewarded with a new deal because of his part in the club's European success this season but that isn't to be the case.
Italian outfit Lazio are leading the race to sign the hard-working player who has since cleared out his Melwood locker.
He was signed by Gerard Houllier from Croatia Zagreb for £5.5m back in 2000.

Benitez will regret it.
Release Biscan and keep "Zidane-wannabe ballet dancer with super long legs that look like they will break any moment" Traore.....
This is a sad day....
i agree he played some excellent games in midfield, especially in the Champions League... but im sure we've seen how many times he'd lost the ball in midfield, and sometimes he looks as if he doesnt even know whats happening..
no doubt hes good... but rafa has bigger ambitions and he needs to get better players
