Michael Owen has revealed he wants to join Manchester United after accepting his career with Real Madrid is drawing to a close.
A source close to the former Liverpool star said: "It looks like Real are ready to sell. If that is the case he has a hankering to play for United. He does realise it wouldn't go down too well with the Anfield fans who used to idolise him, but that is something he is prepared to live with.
"He enjoys partnering Wayne Rooney with England and would love to partner him at club level."
United are set to launch a 15 million bid for Owen and look favourites to get their man.
Liverpool are not thought to be in the frame to resign a player who would take up most of Rafael Benitez's transfer budget.

As a former Liverpool player , Owen wouldn't be so stupid to join Man Utd and become someone we hate and boo .
This move will never materialise .
Anyway it's up to him to don any colours he want , not our business anyway . -

The season after he left in search of silverware, LFC won the Champion's League. Despite denying, Michael Owen must be kicking himself.
Owen's has a good goal scoring record where ever he's played...so it'll be good for United...will be interesting to see him as a devil against his beloved pool team though..
All being said...this deal is very unlikely to pull through IMO. -
why would owen want to move to a lousy cmi team?

Man Utd is going downhill for the past few seasons.
Unless Owen is looking for a hair dryer from Fergie.
When Owen leaves Liverpool, he is no longer a RED.
So, I dun think he have any club loyalty in MIND.
What is in his mind is the World Cup Final next year.
He need to foster his partnership with Rooney.
Therefore, Old Trafford is actually a good career move for Owen.
He will move to Old Trafford if he want to make it to the World Cup.
Real Mardid is not going anywhere. -
Since the taking over by the Glazer fmaily, Man Utd has been put into debts. They need to sell players in order to buy players. Owen looks out of reach for Sir Alex.

Heard that RV Nistlerroy is coming to Real Madrid....part exchange. He's not been good with Fergie lately.
Footballers nowadays..where got loyalty. Money and prospects come first. He sees more prospect if he's playing with Rooney....maybe dat's why he's thinking abt that move. -
I rather have Michael Owen join Newcastle. He will make a deadly pair along with Alan Shearer now that the latter has decided to stay around for another season or two.
It is also possible for Owen to be a long-term replacement for the Magpie skipper when Shearer becomes the new manager. -

i am a Magpie supporter myself and have always regarded Liverpool & Leeds fans as being part of the same coalition. mourhino and benitez are good frens.what happened in the league cup final was probaly due to emotions running high.maybe liverpool fans bear a grudge against him la but as a chelsea fan i only dislike arsenal and man u.
