Liverpool will complete the signing of Dutch midfielder Boudewijn Zenden on Monday.
Zenden, who is out of contract at Middlesbrough, has passed a Liverpool medical and will complete formalities on Monday morning.
The 28-year-old, who has spent the past two seasons at The Riverside after joining Chelsea in 2001, will be eligible for the start of Liverpool's Champions League campaign on July 13.
Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said: 'Bolo Zenden has passed his medical. We have reached an agreement with the player and expect the contract to be signed on Monday morning.
'He will then be introduced at a press conference later that afternoon.'
Not a bad signing in my opinion....an out and out winger....

Not a bad choice for a player in that left flank !
More like Riise can have some off-day . So to Traore .
This two left sided player has been working overtime in that left flank , so the inclusion of Zenden can be handful to Benitez .
Still alright at 28 , still be able to contribute at least 2 more years .
Zenden has to make a choice for the sake of next year's World Cup in Germany .
Joining L'pool can only be good for him , knowing that this is his last World Cup . -

Kewell have never actually contributed much to Liverpool's progress for the past two season.
Now, Ah Ben have problems in offloading him.
As for Zenden, he will be a good asset as he will be playing hard to qualify for the World Cup.
Furthermore, he is FREE like MacAllister.
Liverpool need to bolster the midfield area.
I think Ah Ben is still sticking with his 3-5-1 tactics. -

Zenden is a proven winger in England with Boro and he's pushing hard for a place in Van Basten's Dutch team.
His arrival will strengthen the left side of midfield where Risse has been the only notable player last season. Kewell's been disappointing and Garcia's position was not so much on the left wing.
And the best part of the deal is that we got him on a free transfer.
Now, who's complaining? -
Zenden's appearances at Boro were curtailed by injury. If not he could have made a bigger impact in the northeast.

NewPaper said that Zenden is the direct replacement for Smicer .
One free transfered out and one free transfered in .
Better still , this Zenden can play both on the wings and in the middle like what he did with Boro .
It's looking like Biscan + Smicer into one . -
Considering that he is supposed to replace Smicer, I think this is an excellent signing. No disrespect to Smicer of course. I like Smicer but I think he spends too much time in the injury list and that's very disruptive for the club like the Kewell saga last season.
