Real SociedadPortsmouth have signed former Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld on a free transfer.
The Dutch international spent a unsuccessful time on loan at Real Mallorca from parent club Real Sociedad.
The 30-year-old's move to Fratton Park comes after his contract with Sociedad expired at last season's end.
Spain Under-21 international Miguel Moya had claimed the Mallorca number one jersey for most of last season and the former Twente Enschede and Vitesse Arnhem custodian has decided to make the return to The Premiership with Alain Perrin's side.
Westerveld has signed a two-year deal with the South Coast outfit and was delighted to be back in England.
"It's great to be back in the Premier League, where I played for two-and-a-half years, and for me that was always too short," Westerveld told Sky Sports News.
"So I went to Spain and played there for three-and-a-half years, but in the back of my mind, I always wanted to return to England again.
"I had some offers from different clubs in different countries, but I put my mind on the Premier League and when Portsmouth came in, I didn't hesitate.
"I'm grateful Portsmouth have given me an opportunity to come back."
The Holland international stated that the play in The Premiership provides more challenges for goalkeepers after experiencing La Liga.
"I think for a goalkeeper, it's harder to play in the Premier League," Westerveld added.
"I think you can't compare the two of them. They're different leagues, different football, different styles of play, so you can't really say what is the best league.
"It's much more quicker in the Premier League. For a goalkeeper, you've got a lot more to do.
"It's a lot more physical and that's what I missed."
Portsmouth has got a good 'keeper , free somemore !
Catch of the season .
Patrik
Sander is good. His goal kicks are magnificent.
X-men
Think he made less mistakes as compared to dudek
Poolman
Dunno what he did wrongly to deserve the kick from that Houllier .
Let's hope our new duo of Carson and Reina can achieve new height than Dudek's UCL medal , and Westerveld's Treble.

I think Westerveld also screwed up a few critical times.....
Nowadays, almost every keeper will make mistake, except Petr Cech. I'm waiting to see his mistakes....
