In the most recent interview before the Season ickoff, Rafael Benitez has admitted that Michael Owen could have a future back at Anfield.
Rafael Benitez finally broke his silence on the rumours surrounding Michael Owen's future on Friday when he addressed the national press for his final press confrence before today's big Premiership kick-off.

Speaking to journalists from England's leading national newspapers, Benitez was pressed relentlessly for a quote - any quote - about any move for Real Madrid striker Michael Owen.
While the Liverpool manager maintained that his top priorities remain the recruitment of a new centre-half and a right winger, he was prepared to admit that a move for a player of Owen's calibre can never be totally ruled out.
"Michael Owen is a good player, so I can't say no," he told Liverpool's Daily Post newspaper. "I don't know at this moment if we can do something about the strikers because we are waiting on a good offer for Milan [Baros]. If we don't get that offer then we can't do anything about it.
"There were no problems between me and Michael. He's a good player and a nice boy, a good professional." -

Yes ....... our strike forces will be the best in the EPL , Cisse , Nando , Pongelle , Crouch , now Owen .
No.....one has to give way , I hate to see Cisse , Nando dropped . -

It is understood that Rafa's transfer priority lies in a right winger and a centre-back. Owen will likely be a secondary issue.
It's obvious Rafa has to trim the strike-force to accommodate Owen. If Owen does comes in, I see two almost identical set of striking partners. Crouch/Nando with Cisse/Owen. This setup will be good cos LFC will have a long Season ahead with EPL and UCL commitments and that will give Rafa options and rest players. -
I agree on that long season thing ....
On this Owen's saga .... Benitez needs a winger and a centre back , but The Board , and particularly Moore , Gerrard and Parry would like a Owen's return .
Think one of those strikers will turn into winger , likely candidate , Cisse ! -

Cisse can be a good Right wing player.
Bring Garcia forward to create chances, instead of losing ball in the midfield.

MO has a point about Garcia's tendency to lose possession on the right, or any other position. He looks more at home in the centre of things, preferably a forward as he was assigned the last season.
Owen does make a good investment cos he is a proven goalscorer and he is by far more clinical in terms of finishing.
Then again, as what I have seen from the Boro match... a right winger is a urgent issue. We have good headers in Nando and Crouch. That shld be exploited fully. -

Yes, we have Cisse, Nando, Pongolle and Crouch (Mellor too). But tell me, who do you think is able to give us 20 goals a season. The safest bet is Cisse but that is a BIG question mark. Owen will be on loan from RM for one season.
The problem with Ah Ben now is that his spanish imports dun seem to be able to undertake the physical side of the English game.
Moro and Cisse need a good supply of balls for goal.
Garcia can be the jack in the box as his reponse to loose ball is good.
Zenden is doing fine, but just that Moro need another partner in front of goal.
Liverpool is weak on the right wing. -

But I do see Owen looking for regular football than to see himself on the bench again with the World Cup around the corner (although Ericksson did assure Owen will not be affected).

LONDON, August 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admitted on Monday that he would like to see Real Madrid misfit Michael Owen return to the Merseyside.
Newcastle have been keen to set up a deal for the Real Madrid striker, but Owen has also been linked with a loan move back to Liverpool.
"It goes without saying I would love Michael back here and I think everyone at the club would love him back.
"Obviously it's up to Real Madrid. He's their player and they will decide," Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo.
"But when I see Michael in the England squad I won't even have to ask him where he'd like to be in a few weeks.
"I am waking up every morning looking in the papers and hoping to read he is on his way here.
"Could you imagine him coming back to Anfield and scoring against us for another Premiership club? It would be a nightmare.
"Whoever signs him guarantees themselves 20 goals and in my opinion he'd be the best striker in the league."
Owen, who left Liverpool last summer, is now fifth-choice striker at Madrid after the club signed Robinho and Julio Baptista.

After seeing Liverpool fighting to overcome 10 men Boro, every Liverpool fan must be sweating again.
Ah Ben will be under a lot of pressure from Ah Rick to get the Coveted EPL title this year.
I dun really think the present team can win the EPL title this year as they are still relatively new to each other and most of them may be shipped out by Ah Ben by end of August.
Except for the injured army, the rest of the players including Moro have a chance to be shipped out.
Hope they can get Mickey Mouse quick and let the players settled down and play ball. -
