Hay people , I guess Sunderland's 0 shot at goal the whole match summed up the story ?
We dominate and won ....... that's what most important !
Guys , we have a UCL Qualifer second leg tie against CSKA Sofia on Tuesday , then follow by a SUPER CUP against another CSKA Moscow at Monaco on Friday, and a Sunday EPL match , do you think Benitez wanted the lads to go all out and drain ourself with our energy resources ?
Ay first I thought this is going to be a one-off 5-0 thing , but thinking back about the congested fixtures , i would do the same like Benitez . if i'm the manager .
Nevermind the score guys , we won , and best shot is , Sunderland has zero shot on goal . -

It's the same problem with 'Pool again, trying to find that perfect pass from midfield past the defence and losing the ball to the opposition before it lands on your strikers.
Where were the crosses? I only remembered 2 from Steve Finnan. I'm pretty sure that wasn't part of the plan. Everyone was taking it at very slow pace. Maybe except Momo.
They are trying to play the EPL the same way they played in Europe. This obviously does not work. The EPL game is not a tactical chess game, it's a straight-down-British-bulldog game. Attack furiously and you'll win.
Liverpool might just win the Champions League again, but in EPL, har!?!?! Be prepared to see them maybe getting 5th again.....
P.S: Tottenham is looking impressive. I bet them to clich the 4th place in the end. Mark this post.

I think Benitez is wrong to say we need a winger , but looking at last night's match , I think we need Michael Owen like what Strait's Time has said , and a centre back , not a winger !

When Luis Garcia is put on the right, we lost numerous possession. He's more of a tricky forward than a winger IMO. And Cisse is a striker for gewd;s sake... technically he's good in the box but tactically and technically, he needs hellava improvement on the right.
Rafa did brought in a centre back but the young spaniard is one for the future and we still need a experienced back-up. -
Latest news,lyon and marseille interested in cisse..But den i feel liverpool will need michael owen and a quality right winger..Too bad figo rejected you guys..

There is no need for wingers if the strikers are flying blank.
Liverpool already have a left winger and he is not really actively involved in the game during the first half.
Liverpool is seem playing the centre attack all the time.
Zenden is also seem drifting to the right at times.
I have to agreed with the rest that the spanish cum european way of playing soccer is suicidal for the physical game in the EPL.
We need some English players to rough out the victory.
Liverpool dun seem lethal when they push the ball forward as they are alway losing possession at the 6 yard box.
Just look like Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea, when they attack, there is alway one crowd of players flooding the opponent's 6 yard box, sniffing out loose ball.
OBSERVE LIVERPOOL FOR THE NEXT EPL GAME.
The two strikers are alway stranded and fighting the 4 defenders without any midfielders for support.

I beg to differ, LFC does need wingers in all aspect. Great headers like Nando needs decent services from the wings as he had demonstrated given the opportunities.
It's funny sheetz cos LFC hadn't had decent wingers since what... McManaman left for RM? While Bolo looks hardworking on the left/centre/right... he didn't threaten much against the opposition.
If the line of attack is not align, it's hard for the strikers to get services and shots at goal. Misalignment of Line of attack occurs when you push to attack but ya flanks or centre is not supporting you and the attack breaks down. Gerrard made things click in the centre but the wings not doing their part to provide decent crosses.
Look at how C Ronaldo's substitution brought life into Man Utd's game against Boro. He took on the defenders, ruffled the defences and provide decent crosses. They can made a difference. -
I always supported the notion of more English players to bring some bite into the team like what Medicated Oil mentioned.
Spaniards brings technical flair but English brings dogged-like mentality into the team. -
We do need a right winger but that will not solve the problem. I think it is evident that something must be changed in the striking department as well. Playing with just one striker is not good. Probably Crouch is bought to fill that role. Morientes is just a temporary solution. But even then, I don't think playing with just one striker is going to work. I still have big doubts over Cisse's ability to produce goals. So he is not my ideal striking partner for Crouch. Also, I think the porblem now is that Rafa wants to play Gerrard, Alonso and Sissoko. So no choice but to go with 1 striker.
I have a suggestion. Why not play Gerrard at the right midfield? I am sure he will be better than Cisse or Garcia. Garcia is too lightweight and his trickery isn't impressive. Cisse is just not a right midfielder (remember Diouf?). Since Liverpool is blessed with good centre midfielder like Alonso, Sissoko and Hamann, I think playing Gerrard on the right is still ok. I think he has played in that position before. By doing that, we can play with 2 strikers. Also, Gerrard can have the option of playing as a free role behind the front two.
And my ideal strikers will be Crouch and Owen. So I think we really need to bring Owen back. -

Only if we can score just one more against each team , we could have won easily , cos I thought we're effectively defensive , in a right way . Our midfielders of Momo , Gerrard , Alonso doing a good job , even Warnock doing great , left midfield of Bolo doing well so far , only that ....... we lacked some finishing .
You'll be disappointed if you bet against L'pool this season . -

It's not like Sunuderland is not even close to the goal, they do have chances. If they convert those chances, Liverpool might even lost.
With a player advantage for the last 15 mins and we don't look like we have the advantage. This is the 2 match in a row that we have the extra man advantage. We did NOT score from open play... which really shows that we are seriously lack in goal scoring abilities. So many players doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. Riise had the chance to pass but choose to take a shot and made the shot go wide...
sigh.. if thats how we gonna play.... I dont see Liverpool going to improve their position from last season. -
Hey guys. I don't understand why the dissapointment and pessimistic when Liverpool has won the game. Yes. It's only 1-0 and yes, the performance is not exactly vintage. But still, that's 3 points in the bag and that's all that matters at the end of the season. Nobody is going to care at the end of the season that Liverpool did not perform particularly well at home to Sunderland. Just ask Chelsea last week at Wigan.
Liverpool won 1-0 and there are people who began to write off Liverpool's chances. Yet did you ppl write off Chelsea's chances when they nearly lost at Wigan? Chelsea were lucky they won at Wigan and they were lucky to win against Arsenal. That goal was really a fluke. I don't think Drogba knew where exactly the ball is and it just happens to fall on his shin and bounces into the net. So if luck was not on their side, Chelsea could have got just 1 or 2 points so far this season.
Now was Liverpool lucky to get 4 points now? No, in fact, I think we were unlucky not to have 6 points. We were definitely unlucky not to get 3 points at Boro. If only Gerrard was in his scoring mood that day, we would have won. And at Anfield, there's nothing lucky about Alonso's strike. And Liverpool didn't look at losing the match either. Yes. Sunderland did pose us some problems. But at the end, they were not even close to scoring.
So cmon guys. It's only 2 games into the season and we have got 4 points and they are not due to luck. So get your chins up and there's plenty more to look forward to. -
Poor by any std - how did we not dominate at home?! Wat happened 2 our "world-class" strikers?!
Only positives are we got the results and we created chances enuff 2 win! Overall, we were lucky for the win....let's hope we won't do any worse than tis!
