Liverpool striker Neil Mellor is set to join Championship outfit Sheffield United.
The Blades are in talks with the Liverpool player about a season-long loan.
United boss Neil Warnock said: "We are making sure we have an extra striker on board."

Now L'pool are building up a team that can score from defense , from midifield and from wingers , so that those critics can be shut-up .
So how many strikers doesn't matter most .... the most crucial is , how does the striker do more than scoring ? Like assisiting , holding , shieldings etc.... that's important , as for that scoring responsibilities , it's the team-work that counts .
When Benitez was Boss at Valencia , the strikers don't score many goals , but they striking rate is good , from defense to midfield ..... so I'm sure Benitez will use that winning formula here . That's why he like using the "lone-striker" formation , 'cos he's a strong believer of 11 goal scoring players . -
We have Crouch , Morientes , Cisse , Pongelle , Mellor - 5 strikers .
We've got Potter , a winger , that can score goals too .
Gerrard can score ... Garcia can score too .... Riise is good at scoring too , if he's on form .... Alonso ? Sissoko ? Carragher ? Hyypia , remember that wonder striker against Juventus ?
The difference is , we need to do that in a more onsistant manner , anyway , it's just Benitez's first season last season , i think this , his 2nd season will be a good one .
He corrected a few mistakes we make last season , and this season , we still yet to concede any goals , that's good sign , and that's his plan , hold your defense tight , and see what we can do to score goals .
