Getafe have warned Liverpool they will have to meet their asking price if they want to sign star striker Riki.
The Reds are reported to be lining up a move for the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens in January.
Anfield chief Rafa Benitez is keen to bolster his attacking options and he is thought to have made Riki his top target.
Riki has enjoyed a fine season so far with Getafe, helping them into the top three, and Getafe president Angel Torres admits he is aware of interest from Liverpool and other clubs in the player.
"We realise that Liverpool or any big club could want Riki, but nobody has officially spoken to us. I don't know if they have spoken to his agent," Torres told Marca.
"I have to say that not Liverpool nor anyone are going to get him for €4 million (£2.73 million) - they have to pay his buy-out clause.
"He is an adaptable striker who is in the news and it would be a shame for us to lose him, but it's obvious that if someone pays his buy-out clause and he wants to go then there is nothing we can do about it.
"I am not surprised Liverpool may want him because he is in incredible form at the moment. Liverpool have scouts here and all over the place."
Meanwhile, Benitez has warned Harry Kewell that he needs to prove himself this season.
The Australian has struggled to hit the heights at Liverpool since his arrival from Leeds in 2003.
Kewell has failed to play this season through injury, but he is close to regaining full fitness.
Benitez has admitted that this is a big season for Kewell and that the pressure is on him.
"Harry will need some time to get back to his best, but this is an important season for him," said Benitez.
"Harry wants to be fit and playing again, he wants to show people that he can play and be a good player for Liverpool.
"He is disappointed with how it has gone for him during his time here, but he is a professional who knows what he is capable of and he wants to play.
"He has more confidence in his fitness now. Maybe in the past he didn't have that kind of confidence, but he does now.
"The fans have criticised him a little at times, but they see a player with Harry's talent, they realise he is good and they want him to perform better.
"If you are a good player and play for Liverpool, you have to expect supporters to say, 'Come on, play better'.
"I have to manage the situation and understand Harry's problems, but this is a season where he does have to play well."

Reports in Spain claim that Sevilla are hoping to lure Liverpool defender Josemi back to La Liga.
The 26-year-old joined The Reds at the start of last season but has struggled to cement a first-team berth at Anfield.
Sevilla boss Juande Ramos is keen to strengthen his side's defence after a somewhat shaky start to the campaign and wants extra cover at right back where Daniel Alves, ironically a target for Liverpool, is his only real option.
Ramos is a big fan of Josemi, having worked with the player when the two were at Malaga together.
Spanish media sources have suggested that the Primera outfit have put a €3 million (£2 million) offer on the table for Liverpool to consider and will hope to persuade them to do business in January.
Any move will depend on how regularly the player features under Rafa Benitez between now and January, although it is understood his intention is to see out the season in England and attempt to establish himself.
However, if he falls out of favour that could change and the chance to link up with a coach who rates him so highly is likely to prove very attractive.
Josemi has started two league games and four UEFA Champions League matches for Liverpool this term but finds himself behind Steve Finnan in the pecking order for the right back spot at Anfield. -
Ivan Helguera has denied signing a pre-contract with Liverpool for next season.
The Real Madrid man has been the subject of speculation in some quarters that he is heading for Anfield after reportedly agreeing a deal with Rafa Benitez.
A number of English clubs are keen on the centre back, who can also operate in midfield, but Helguera has flatly denied speaking with the UEFA Champions League winners.
"This is not true," he told the Spanish press.
"I do not have any accord with The Reds and I have not spoken with Rafa Benitez on this subject.
"But new contacts for renewing my contract do not exist.
"This is what is true. The decision depends on Real Madrid."
Helguera's present contract expires next June so he is free to discuss terms with foreign clubs in January. -
LFC has got enough strikers.
They need to buy better midfielders to supply the strikers, especially on the wings.
What they have now is pretty bad.
Kewell is not the same player he used to be.
I won't want to depend on the one legged riise for too long.
Zenden can't get a game for nuts.
Cisse belongs at the front, not right midfield.
Garcia is good but too unpredictable.
We need someone concrete, consistent, injury free that can start to forge good partnerships with the front men and start creating goals. -

Liverpool needs to have a creative player.
An inspirational player who can motivate the team. Gerrard is OK but not good enough. They need Joaquin.
They had a chance to take back Owen. But Rafa does not want him.
They need to strengthen their squad with creative team players and not on inividual brilliance. They need strikers who can come back to support their defenders and defenders who are willing to throw their bodies to stop shots.

I dun think Ah Ben have a slightier clue on what is the best team for Liverpool at the moment.
He have the "preferred" team list.
Liverpool is like a jigsaw puzzle now.

i can understand a supporter's love and loyalty to a club. but i noticed many are too emotional. most are not realistic.
liverpool dont stand a chance of winning the premiership. they cant even finish ahead of man u and arsenal. let alone win the title.
liverpool only finished runners-up once in the last 8-9 seasons.

I gurantee you that Crouch and Morientes will score lots of goals if LFC has a proper winger that can put those crosses in like Beckham used to do for Man United.

wait pool do create alot of chance if you watch the matches..against blackburn it was very evident that the service should have been good enough but they don't take their chances..and good strikers are always able to conjur up something when there is nothing..so don't always blame the service..cause i have seen pool play alot of times and really their finishing is poor..

The way they put crosses in was painful. And the constant long balls to Crouch..Need I say more? -
All lies with Benitez and his so-call tactics....
Many said Benitez is the master of tactician , i have doubts leh ...
We don't see lots of creation leh , where is our link play ? Through balls ? one-twos ?
We only see our overlapping defenders delivery blind crosses into the nobody's land .
And we don't see crosses when Crouch is playing .
We control alot , just plain passings in opponents halves , but once Garcia got the ball , it's back to square one .... we wasted alot of time controlling , not creating .
We wasted alot of those 90 mins trying to get back possession lost by Luis Garcia and Josemi ..... oh my god , please sell this two .
