i did not say that the manager was not responsible for the UCL win. what i meant was winning a cup competition is just a one-off thing, whichever the team is. winning a cup competition does not necessarily means that a team can challenge for a league title.Originally posted by RSP:READ MY WORDS..
I NEVER said that LFC were going to be good just because of it.
i didnt say you did!!!
I was just emphasing the FACT that the manager DESERVES more respect for what he has done for LFC in his FIRST season.
WHO can say that the manager was NOT reponsible for the UCL win?
For example ***Originally posted by dragg:liverpool's CL league win is a one-off thing.
i dont understand why people keep thinking that liverpool is going to be good just because of it.
Whatever.Originally posted by dragg:i did not say that the manager was not responsible for the UCL win. what i meant was winning a cup competition is just a one-off thing, whichever the team is. winning a cup competition does not necessarily means that a team can challenge for a league title.
knock-out competitions are very different from the league competition. consistency is needed to win the league title.
Many people over look the fact that the manager was responsible for the stunning win against Olympiakos in the group stage. His tactical decisions in the 2nd half won LFC the game...Most people only remember Steveb Gerrards winner but before that , Rafa's decision to bring on Sinama Pongolle and then Neil Mellor started it all off. Both scoring before Gerrad.Originally posted by Medicated Oil:Liverpool CL Final win is due to SG and the hungry in the team as for most of them, this is their 1st and last CL final in their whole life.
That is why miracle have happened.
Ah Ben did make a mistake in deploying Keng-Well in the 1st half.
Please dun create any misunderstanding among the Liverpool fans.
We all stand united in wishing Liverpool to be STRONG again after suffering so much heartache for the last 8 season.
(If I have a heart problem, sure die by now)
We can all see by now that Ah Ben does have a weakness in deploying his spanish army and being overly positive about the misgivings of his players.
I believe he have over-estimated the ability of his spanish army to overcoming the EPL players.
That is why he have discarded key midfielders like Danny Murphy.
In his effort to mould the team, he have lost the strong backbone of the midfield and team spirit.
However, we should give him a chance to improve on the present squad.
I would agreed that Liverpool are playing too much money for second class players or players that cannot make it for 90 minutes.
This is not the 1st or the last time.
It is for the players to wake up their ideas and for us to pray harder and dun bet our money on Liverpool match.
So, pray that they start their goal feast on Crystal Palace tomorrow.
where he has been?Originally posted by RSP:Whatever.
I strongly believe that if there's a man that can bring the title back to LFC. Its Rafa Benitez. The man is a winner. He's won titles whereever he has been. And I believe he can bring the title back to Anfield.
As a Reds' fan, I do take offence on these statements!Originally posted by dragg:frankly RB dont have a clue how to manage liverpool.
i wont be surprised if he choose to leave next season.
the issue now is not about whether liverpool won by luck or not. frankly it is not even important anymore. the win is already history.Originally posted by RSP:Many people over look the fact that the manager was responsible for the stunning win against Olympiakos in the group stage. Then, there was the Juventus game at Anfield. Rafa's decision to play Le Tallec paid off. He was inspirational and unpredictable to the Italians. They had no answer to the small french forward and he had a brilliant 1st half that led to his contribution to Garcia's goal.
Then the final. Yes, Rafa made a mistake in the first half. But he made up for that mistake by deploying Hamann in midfield. That was a master stroke and certainly the main reason why LFC won the final.
Of cos there is Luck involved but come on, they did not win it merely on luck. They've played well throughout and deserved the win.
take offence as you deem fit.Originally posted by Redz:As a Reds' fan, I do take offence on these statements!
No one can come straight into the EPL and win the league.Originally posted by dragg:the issue now is not about whether liverpool won by luck or not. frankly it is not even important anymore. the win is already history.
in time people wont care except the record books.
i am not a liverpool fan but i grew up watching them winning with impunity. CL win is just a consolation. winning the premiership is the ultimate aim of every team.
liverpool is the current record holder of league titles during the league championship. man u and arsenal was nothing then. after the inception of the premiership liverpool has not won a single time. i am sure all liverpool fans, including myself, would like to see liverpool change that. like poolman said patience is running thin.
winning the CL is a one-off thing. just like everton, finishing 4th is also a one-off thing. ipswich qualified finished 5th and was relegated the next season, also a one-off thing.
so what is my point? consistency!!! a team needs consistency to remain in the premiership. a team needs consistency to win a premiership. a team needs consistency to defend a domestic title.
RB may be a damn good tactician in european games but he is obviously lost in the english game. winning a li liga title and a premiership requires very different management. the playing style is obviously different.
and the english play more games in a season than any other leagues.
dont let your emotions get the better of you.Originally posted by RSP:No one can come straight into the EPL and win the league.
Except Jose Mourinho of course. But he did it with the exceptional Russian backing.
Why i think Rafa is the best man to lead the title back to Anfield is because he is good tactician for starts. On top of that, he is a good learner. He will learn from his mistakes. It may take 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 seasons, but Rafa can lead the reds to the title.
Why i mention he is a winner is because thats important. The mentality to win.
He's only been at Tenirife and Valencia, he got Tenirife promoted, won the League with Valencia and UEFA cup as well. Trophies aside, he got the teams he manged to play his style and its potentially a good style.
With LFC, he is still in the learning process, he's studying the EPL and I'm confident he will master it in time to come.
There is great potential in Rafa. Writing him off so early can only be a foolish thing to do.
Ps. I do feel insulted by the harsh comments' you've made on Rafa. The lad deserves more respect, even from a bystander.
