aussies qualify for world cup

kewell came on mid way through the 1st half and had a very good game ... he was involved in the build up to the winning goal and was constantly a threat to the uruguay defence ... running at the defence. beating players, and helping out in defence ... he played about 100mins (including extra time) and scored the 1st penalty in the penalty shootout ... the aussies dominated the game after he came on and were unlucky not to have scored a couple of goals in regular time ...
understandably he wasn't at his best and needs more game time ... but if he continues to work hard at club level, we're going to see the real kewell we signed very soon ... *fingers crossed* -

Everytime Australia fell at the last hurdle .

harry kengwell will go back to liverpool full of confidence,but he will be exhausted,so probaly a final 15mins appearance for him this weekend i guess..

Trinidad and tobago qualify!!! they deserved it although bahrain has a few good chances and the last min tobago gk make a great save to stop it from going to extra time.
dwight yorke played very well and it was nice to see southhampton's young prodigy kenwyne jones play, kinda reminds me of the early Kanu. I finally get to see the legendary russell latapy!! -
Guus Hiddink is a genius coach... maybe socceroos will be in top 4 in the next world cup also..

they have waited more than 30 years for this ... they fully deserve it this time after losing to uruguay 4 years ago ... the whole team played very well, gave their all and never gave up ... uruguayans tried everything to upset them, diving, complaining about the ball, the manager threw ball at aussie players, players even tried intimidation (pushing and abusing) before the teams came out ... aussies have the players to do well i think ... especially with hiddink as the manager ...Originally posted by Poolman:been waiting for this moment , waited for almost 3 world cups .

my main concern though, was kewell ... the positive thing about kewell is he was willing to try everything ... wanting the ball, taking on players etc ... even taking the 1st penalty kick ... shows he's getting his confidence and fitness back ...
the fact that he played a major role in the game, lasted the match, scored a penalty, and qualified for the world cup can only be good for him ... fingers crossed he brings it back to club football, and we'll benefit no end ... go harry -

after so many years down here, it's only natural i get a bit of aussie in me right
... i'd love to see sg in the world cup finals but i cannot see it happening in a long time ... we're still way behind the likes of japan and korea -

by qualifying for the wc, they'll get something like $8m ... it's a big boost for football here ... btw, the chairman of the revamped football federation is a top businessman (with shopping centre chains i think) and the ceo is the same guy who was responsible for a very successful rugby world cup here ... the new a-league, in its ifrst season, has been quite successful so far -
