Knee ligament damage ends Zenden's season
Liverpool midfielder Boudewijn Zenden is likely to miss the rest of the season after learning he must undergo surgery on a cruciate ligament injury.
The Dutchman joined the Reds in the summer on a Bosman free transfer from Middlesbrough but his Anfield career has already been disrupted by injury.
And after damaging his ligament in the recent Champions League clash at home to Real Betis, the 29-year-old must fly to America for an operation on Wednesday.
He will see renowned football specialist Doctor Richard Steadman in Colorado.
A club spokesman told www.liverpoolfc.tv: 'Unfortunately, it is unlikely that `Bolo' will play again this season.'
It's a pity. Zenden was on the verge of establishing himself on the left hand side prior to the injury. He had been playing well and scoring goals.
He's a good player. I hope that this does not spell the end of his playing career at Liverpool, especially with the arrival of new wingers expected soon.
In the meanwhile, it means more playing time for Harry Kewell and John Arne Risse in midfield.
if m. gonzalez come then bye bye zenden.
Pity it cld spell the end of his Reds' future....altho I tink he was a stop-gap solution for us anyway.
But I like his work-rate - a good squad player!
Wish him luck on his recovery!
