As for midfield, Liverpool is about there with Steven Gerard.
As for Attack, Liverpool need to buy a finisher in front of goal.
Liverpool have improved greatly in dominating the midfield and creating chances.
But, Cisse and Crouch are not sufficiently good enough in converting the chances into goals.
To beat Chelsea at the end of the season, it may boils down to goal differences.
I remember once Hyypia got injured , when he substained a head injury and needed some stitches in the dressing room , i saw Momo came in for him alongside Carragher for a while .
In any case , if one of Hyypia or Carra is down , we could possibly use Momo or Traore as back-up before the new arrival . -
We don't need any 20+ goal a season goal scoring machine .
We need 5-6 players who can score 7-10+ goals each season .
And now we had that in the squad ! No purchase require .
Gerrard is one of them , Garcia certainly is , Crouch is scoring for fun , Cisse need more goals , Riise can score , Alonso can nick in a few , now we are waiting for Kewell to get back on track , and i can see Kewell is getting better each game .
Our main position to buy is not a striker , we need a centre half and a right winger to supply those ammunition to Crouch & the rest . -
what benitez saw in kewell is that he's easily the most gifted left footer in the whole liverpool team,now finally i see some praises coming in for him,last time this whole forum like machiam everybody want him out..

The only player that is scoring for fun is Steven Gerrard.
The only on-form striker, ironically is Peter Crouch.
The only seflish and missed a lot of chances player is Luis Garcia.
The only player who is still trying to score is Harry Kewell.
(Surprised that he is is changed player - Must be the World-Cup-Put-My-Name-In-The-Teamsheet discease)
The only player that is expected to score with ease but not so on form or consistent is injured Morientes.
The only player that is played only 10 mintues average per match and top scorers with Stevie is Cisse.
Alonso and Risse have not scored for a while.
I deeply believe that we need a striker to retain the European Cup in 2006. -

very big improvment by liverpool.
regarding the debate on purchasing new strikers, i for one don't see a need for anyone new. and if we do get a new striker, he should be a young player.
why do i say there isn't a need?
look at the liverpool in the past, if the strikers don't score, the midfield will. if they all don't score, the defence will.
for now even if the strikers are not scoring and midfielders win it for the team, i don't see an issue for that.
looking at the bigger picture, the strikers are probably heavily marked and therefore that creates openings for the midfield to come in and score.
i'd be worried if the whole team can't score at all, rather than concentrate my analysis on just one position and say we need someone new.
