Reds to gain Kromkamp for Josemi
Dutch international Jan Kromkamp is set to join Liverpool from Villarreal in an exchange deal which will see right-back Josemi move in the opposite direction.
The 25-year-old Dutchman, who can play in midfield or defence, will tie up the deal if he agrees personal terms.
Villarreal said in a statement: "We have reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer of Jan Kromkamp and the arrival of Josemi.
"The agreement is between the clubs and must be agreed by both players."
Villarreal have not announced whether the deal will be a straight swap or whether a fee will also be involved.
Rafael Benitez made Josemi, 26, his first signing as Liverpool boss in July 2004, buying him from Malaga for £2m.
But the Spanish player, whose full name is Jose Miguel Gonzalez, has struggled to break into the first team after a series of injuries.
Kromkamp is also not a regular at Villareal and has only made six appearances for the senior side this season.
The former AZ Alkmaar player made his international debut against Sweden in August 2004 and has since won eight caps under coach Marco van Basten. -

Rafael Benitez has confirmed that terms have been agreed with Villarreal regarding a swap deal that will see Josemi return to La Liga and Dutch full-back Jan Kromkamp replace him at Anfield.
"Josemi is a right full-back who has had problems speaking English, Kromkamp is a right full-back who's had problems with Spanish. We need to talk with the players but in a few days hopefully Kromkamp will be training with us here at Melwood. "
"He is an offensive full-back who likes to get forward and is very strong in attack. He can operate as a full-back in a line of four or as a wing-back in a line of five. He's a good player but I'd rather not talk too much about him until the deal is finalised. " -

I think Finnan still got a few good years to go.
He is one of the more consistent player in the team and he don't complain. Just play. -
Kromkamp has played in the Champions League this season, and will be remembered in Manchester for the incident when United defender Gabriel Heinze was injured playing in a group match earlier this season.
