Jose Mourinho has described Liverpool as being a team that can only defend.
Jose Mourinho has taunted Liverpool by claiming that all they can do is defend.
The outspoken Chelski boss, who recently described Arsene Wenger as a "voyeur" after he dared to answer questions about the champions, says that the European Champions have 'nothing to offer' other than the ability to keep a clean sheet - as they did in ten consecutive Premiership matches before the new year.
"They defend very well," Mourinho told Sky Sports. "But they offer nothing else other than that.
"It is very difficult to score goals when you take on a team playing with that style. If you are playing that sort of team you have to do it with your head. You have to take your heart out and place it to one side.
"If you play with your heart it is practically impossible to get past their defence.
"And by playing that way, they create a good number of chances and get at you on the counter-attack."
Jose's depiction of a mechanical side which puts the emphasis on clean sheets and likes to hit their opponents on the break also sounds eerily familiar to the standard description of a certain other club in the Premiership...
Rafa Benitez may also care to note that Chelski have, in fact, conceded fewer goals in the Premiership than his side despite having played two more games. -

actually as a chelsea fan,i find the system that both liverpool and chelsea plays are somewhat similar..both try not to concede,and tries to score be it by counter attack or pumping long balls..

It is quite interesting to see all your observations here regarding the similarities and differences between Liverpool and Chelsea.
Putting aside all differences, I can see that the main difference is not in the defence or attack. It is all down to the midfield where play is dictated.
Chelsea is successful in this dept when compared to Liverpool. No offence but Gerrard is your only quality midfielder. Chelsea has a clutch of midfielders who can hold, defend and attack from midfield.
Chelsea is lucky to have players like Lampard, Gudjohnson, Robben, Cole who can distribute pin point (to a cetain accuracy) balls to the attackers.
If one player is not playing well, another is there to step up his game.
Liverpool needs to have more players to step up to support Gerrard and provide the additional cover for him. This will allow him to plan the attack from midfield. -

He stayed to shake all the hands of the Huddersfields players.
He paid credits to the Huddersfield players and manager.
He did not give excuses for his own players.
