West Ham 'make offer for Zigic' West Ham have made an offer for Red Star Belgrade's
6ft 8in striker Nikola Zigic, according to the Serbia and Montenegro side. But Red Star's director of sport, Stevan Stojanovic, said the striker will not leave until the summer.
"On 5 January we returned from Paris, where we held a meeting with some of the clubs interested in Zigic. West Ham is one of them," said Stojanovic.
"But we postponed all talks until the summer as we need our main striker."
The 24-year-old forward has been voted Serbia & Montenegro's player of the year for the second time in three years.
He has scored eight goals in his country's top flight this season and six in the Uefa Cup this season as well as three in World Cup qualifiers for Serbia and Montenegro.
"It's true that I was in Paris because of transfer talks," said the player.
"But, even if the talks were quite open, I'll stay in Red Star until June. That's the wish of my club and my wish too although I'm flattered that West Ham wanted me, just like some other clubs from England too."
